Biggest hair dilemma ever. Help!

Ok, I have curly hair that is about halfway down my back. Most of it looks pretty good except for some parts on both sides of my head. These parts are shorter than the rest of my hair is and stick out, no matter how much product I put in my hair. I guess it's because they're my old bangs growing out?!?!?!

I don't think it would be a good idea to cut the rest of my hair to make it the same length as the shorter parts, because then it would all stick out like a sore thumb, right?

What do I do?

Just how short is it?

One thing that has worked well for me is to twist the hair at the sides, then bring the twists back and clip or bobby pin them in place.
Peace,
