Default Alternatives To Deva

now that Deva has reformulated their product line, please let me know what alternative products you recommend. i've been using mostly Deva for the past 2 years (NoPoo, OneCondish, ArcAngel and Set it Free) and i've been happy with the results. i have experimented on and off with some others, such as Curl Junkie (which i liked but i need to find the right combo), Mop Top (which i hated), and Curly Hair Solutions (which i hated). i'd like to find something similar to the creamy consistency of Deva NoPoo and OneCondish but i dont know where to start. i am hoping that someone can offer a few suggestions. many thanks in advance

I thought that I had found it in Giovanni products but now they too have changed formulas of some of their products.

I am eager to see responses to your post!!

I'm waiting, too, because my sample pac is almost out of the No Poo and One Conditioner. Damn them for changing this.

Where did you all hear they were changing the formula? I hadn't heard anything about it or noticed any difference in my Deva products.

DEFINITELY changed. The ingredient deck listed on CurlMart is different than what I found in store.
I am perplexed why CG Queen herself would add amodimethicone to her products!

Who knows how much Lorraine was involved in developing her line, but A-cone is easily removed by a low poo which is included in her line also. The new One-C without A-cone SUX to be frank.

As far as finding "identical" products that is impossible. CJ Rehab, H&B fix, CJ Smoothing condish & BC daily are all excellent Darcy's pumpkin condish is great too. As far a creamy no poo CJ has Daily Fix. Darcy's Avocado twisting cream is better then SIF IMO.

I think I read on here that a few years ago her products had the Amodimethicone and there is a thread on here about the uproar that it caused, but I thought they now don't contain the A-cone.

I get my Deva stuff at ULTA and I've never seen any cones in the ingredients. I will definately look at all the labels before I buy them from now on.

I really like Curls Cleansing cream too but a lot of curlies find it drying. If your hair isn't starved for moisture it's a great creamy LOW poo.

Trader Joe's refresh citrus conditioner is pretty good and only 2. 29. I vary it with one c as I am addicted to it. I have a new large bottle from beauty deals.com and it doesn't list a cone. I think one c is great for curls and there is just a bit of differencein my hair between the above product and it. As long as I can afford it I will buy it. Where do you get the darcy set it free substitute?

I second that, I use TJ's refresh shampoo and it's an excellent, and very cheap, low poo. In CA it's a bit more at $2.99 (at least, LA, Santa Barbara, and Ventura counties) but that is still dirt cheap. I love it. It's really cleansing and still gentle. It even got out the cones that I "accidentally" got in my a hair recently. It took a couple of days but it got them out - I was happy not to have to use a sulfate poo.

I recently decided to try and find a more moisturizing low poo to alternate with the Refresh, so I bought an Aubrey Organics shampoo. Going by the ingredients lists (my health food store had like 5 or 6 of them), all of their poo's look CG - no sulfates. I can't wait to try the one I bought. Its Rose Mosqueta for dry, color treated hair (which mine is). I think prices vary depending on where you buy Aubrey Organics, but at my local health food store (Lassen's), the prices range from $8.99 to $15.99 (I think only one condish is that high though, the others are $11.99) and I got my poo on sale for $7.99.

I'll let you know how it works as a substitute for Deva's low poo, the ingredient list appears very rich! I think it's in the product list if anyone wants t look it up.

I use TJ conditioner not the shampoo. I still use no poo.

Ulta may still have a stockroom full of the older bottles. i should go and check out my local store. i usually order Deva online through a discount site with free shipping.

i have a few CJ products but i havent found the right combo. the Daily Assurance leaves my hair feeling a bit like straw. and i didnt think the Rehab did much more than the Deva One Condish. again, it might just be the combo of products. i havent tried the CJ Daily Fix but i will add to my list of new products to buy. i checked out Darcy's site and may order the pumpkin condish. i want to get a list together and buy everything at once.

The Aubrey Organics shampoos are made with SOAP, which does not work in my hair at all. YMMV of course, the water is different in CA; but soap here makes soap scum. I'd take sufates over soap any day.

Back on topic, I've been doing OK with the Deva Care stuff, the low-poo and One C and ArcAngell.

Next we are going to try the Mastey Traite & Moisturee, and Biotera gel. But that is some weeks out I hope, still plenty left of the Deva Care.

the Rehab didnt do anything special for my hair. i didnt think it was better than the OneCondish original formula.

Well as long as it's doing something "more" the the NEW One-C, you've made some progress in finding a replacement right?

So, if I believe the ingredient decks here on Curlmart, perhaps the DevaCARE stuff would be a good choice for me.
Neither appear to contain amodimethicone.

I hate starting to use and like something and then discovering that it is discontinued or worse-CHANGED!!
