Wigs?

What do you guys think about wigs? I was at a hairdresser with my aunt recently and saw some "hair-u-wear" and there was a lot of really long pieces that completely matched my color. I started thinkin about getting a wig then. My aunt says to me "but you already have long hair..." and I do..it's past BSL but I am still trying to grow out damage and I could use to protect it from further damage. Also...I'm in PA and it's winter...and my hair looks better if I wet and condition it in the morning. If I had a wig I leave it up, protected and maybe even have some oil in it....while wearing a wig to work not to mention that my hair isn't as long as I'd like and I would like to wear it long and straight without damaging my hair by blowdrying. I could change it up, get some long wigs in a few different colors without dying my hair. Seems to me that wigs would be good. What do you guys think?

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
If you can afford a realistic-looking wig, then you may as well go for it, but the good ones can get expensive, and even then, wigs can look fake: a friend of mine had leukemia and lost her hair, and even though the wig she wore was really nice, it was noticable because the hair was almost "too perfect," if that makes sense. But if you can manage to make it look realistic, I say why not?

I know at my job there are a few people who wear them. One girl will have short hair one day and longer hair the next. They are all styled really well and look nice. We all know they are wigs and she knows that we all know but no one cares...they look great. She wears them like accessories, she changes hair the way I might change earrings. I think a lot of girls wear them here in Philly. If I could get past my own insecurity about everything...I think it might look good.

I love love love wigs. Some of the pics in the other style sections are of me with wigs. I do it when I need a change. It drives the people at my job crazy One day my hair is short, then I come in with hair down my back. I don't just throw them on my head. I style them to make them work for me. I buy synthetic wigs because human ones are more expensive and tend to frizz etc. like human hair. Have fun :-)

Wow a great idea, just imagine you have a bad hairday and instead of spending loads of time faffing with the hair you could just put a wig on and look fab.

Could turn into a wig junkie though

I think I could be a wig junkie too! I mean I've wanted one since I was a little girl. I never had the long hair I wanted and had lots of curls...that I didn't know how do deal with, so I never thought it looked good.

I thought I could switch it up...get some different looks. With my hair, once I find something that looks good I am reluctant to change it. Like since going curly, I have found the style that looks good so I don't change it and sometimes I would like to. I just ordered a light golden brown, straight wig with bangs that falls past BSL. If it works and looks good I will get more in different colors. The website is estee'sboutique. They have synthetic ones that look nice and aren't too expensive, and I read the customer feedback and people seem love this place.[/i]

Hmm....I don't know. I've always thought wigs were so fake looking...

I just don't know...

I guess it's no different that fake nails 9although, those gross me out)

I figure it would be fun. I don't know when I will wear it??

I had to wear a hairpiece once in my life because I had lost a lot of hair and was asked to be in a wedding.

But my work environment if full of extensions and wigs and I love looking at everyone's new hair all of the time.

When I first started working at my job they thought my hair wasn't my real hair.[/url]

I think as long as you don't wear wigs all the time it is okay.
I think if you wear them a lot your hair can't breathe? I think that was the term I had heard!
I'm excited too about getting it. I ordered it in the number 27 color.
I will put a photo in my album when it comes!
I think you just need to make sure that you give your head a rest...let your scalp get some hair and still take care of your hair.

I have a few wigs I used to wear a TON when my hair was short & growing out. They are fun but they bother my head after a while
