Question Keratin Treatment vs Protein Treatment?

Can anyone tell me the difference between a keratin treatment and a protein treatment? I purchased from Sallys a packet of Ion Keratin Treatment thinking it was a protein treatment. I also have a packet from Sallys of the Aphrogee Protein Treatment (comes with the protein treatment and deep conditioner). I also use once a week Aphrogee Keratin Conditioner since it appears to be a protein-rich conditioner. But, now I'm confused about the difference between the two. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Keratin is protein. There are many kinds of proteins out there, so if one said protein and one said keratin, they probably contained different kinds of protein.

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.

Thanks Sunshine. That's what I thought. I went ahead and used the Aphrogee Keratin Treatment and left it on for 30 minutes unstead of the 5 that was recommended on the bottle. I couldn't believe how thick my hair felt. My curls drew up tighter and clumpier. I usually only leave it on for 5 minutes max but figured I'd try longer since a few minutes never really did anything. It's a keeper!

Keratin is the actual protein that hair is composed of, where as regular protein treatments can be made of different types of vegetable or animal protein.
