Jessicurl help please

I used a sample of Jessicurl Gentle Lather Shampoo and really liked it so I swapped (on a different board) for a full bottle. The bottle came and I tried it this morning and I don't think it's the GLS.

I don't know what it is but it doesn't smell right (chemically, slightly sour coconut instead of Island Fantasy), it's opaque instead of the clear I think I remember from the sample and it *trashed* my hair. It tangled worse than it's tangled before, even when I clarified with Suave Clarifying. I used a double handful of Umberto Giannini to try and detangle when I usually use about a tablespoon of any conditioner and still had meshed, breaking and stretching hair. My whole canopy did a fusing thing where it was just one, huge mat.
After rinsing the UG completely, my hair was still feeling fused so I used a large, cherry-sized glob of Curl Junkie Hibiscus Banana & Honey leave-in, fine and finally got some sort of smoothness back but it's no where near where it was.

Here's my request for help - is what I've described really the JC GLS? If not, I need to ask about the Hair Cleansing Cream (smells more like the Island Fantasy of my from-Jessicurl-directly products but more translucent than the GLS? I have) and DevaCare NoPoo as well, it was a large swap.

I only tried a sample of the GLS once so I don't really recall it very much. I do use the Hair Cleansing Cream and it's opaque, not clear. Also it doesn't lather very much at all. That could be what you got instead?

I don't think so. The stuff in the GLS bottle lathered quite a bit. And the stuff in the HCC bottle is clear. I think I got swap-lifted.

I'm sorry, that really sucks. Yeah, from what I remember the GLS lathered more. The HCC is definitely like a whitish, opaque color and doesn't lather alot. If you got swaplifted that is really poor. Who does that crap.

I dunno. I didn't get a shady vibe at all and it seems like the other products were legit. Maybe she was unknowingly passing on some cr@p. If she had swapped for them and didn't know any better...? Ugh. I don't often swap and probably won't for awhile.

I'm very sorry to hear what happened to you, that's a pretty horrible experience. However, there's no way the real Jessicurl product would've smelled like 'sour coconut', so you either got a very old product or (more likely) something else in that bottle. Any chance you could get your money back?

If you EVER again have a tangling problem like that caused by a CO, just get the juice of one lemon or lime and pour it on your hair and the gunk should come right off. When I started CG I had that problem with a Suave CO, it wouldn't detangle and the more I added the gummier and more tangled my hair got, but I saved my hair from damage by literally getting out of the bathtub to go squeeze some lime juice in the kitchen which I worked straight through into the mess in my head.

I agree, the hcc I use is opaque not clear! If it truly is the gentle lather, it could have gotten water in it over time. Her lable says not to get water into it b/c it could disrupt the balance or whatever. My tub of Too Shea has gotten some water in it & it smells a little "off" now.

I don't think the tangling was caused by the conditioner, it was a matted mess before I got any conditioner on it. Whatever was in the GLS bottle was so bad that I was having paranoid thoughts about someone putting Nair or something in the bottle. I do keep lemon juice in the bathroom so I'll keep that in mind if I ever get that tangled up again. Thanks.

I wonder if that's what happened. The HCC has enough of the real JC scent that I feel like it must have been something of JC at some point - maybe it was diluted to make it look like more.
