Dry and frizzy hair after using Ouidad products

I have been using the Curl Quencher line from Ouidad for 5 days and my hair seems dryer and frizzier than normal. This is the line that one of the stylists suggested from the Styling Hutch in Plano, TX. Any advice? Thanks so much.

Check and see if it has hydrolized wheat protein in it. That makes my dry and frizzy

The Curl Quencher conditioner has Wheat Amino Acids and Hair Keratin Amino Acids, which are both protein. If yous hair is protein sensitive, then these ingredients would make it dry and brittle. Or it may be that this conditioner is just not moisturizing enough for you, especially in the winter. I remember Laurabeth saying it was only moderately moisturizing, so you may need something richer.

Ok, I also checked the Curl Quencher shampoo, and it has Hydrolyzed Wheat Starch and Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein. I'm guessing your hair is on protein overload right now.

Thanks so much. I was so hoping this line would work for me, and I spent alot of money on it all!

The old formula of the CQ conditioner was supposed to be very moisturizing, but, unfortunately, Ouidad's company made it lighter weight because some complained it weighed their hair down (rather than recommending her lighter conditioners to them).

Hopefully, the salon will give you your money back since it's been such a short period of time. If not, a store credit's always better than sticking with something that doesn't work, especially if your regular stylist is there.

Those dried my hair out horribly after a while.

When I originally bought Ouidad products I bought the Curl Quencher shampoo and conditioner. My hair did not like them at all. The second time I decided to buy products I bought the Tame Line and my hair loves it! I've been using them now since August.

I hope they start working for you. If you can't return them, maybe they will let you exchange them and try another line of her products.

I used Quidad's Tress FX, over a year ago, and had disastrous results with it. It left my hair feeling dried out and my curls felt hard and crunchy with it. I have only tried one Quidad product so I don't know how well their products perform, but I don't have any interests in revisiting Quidad's line again.

Besides the protein being a possibility (and the keratin more than the wheat), another problem I see with the Ouidad "system" is that (at least according to the book) they do not use oils and this time of year most curlies benefit from at least a little bit in their COs.

Maybe you should post them in the Swap Board and get yourself more moisturizing products. Or you could keep them for occasional use but right now you probably should switch to a protein-free CO. Of those advertised in Curl-Mart, Jessicurl's are safe ones. If you just want to look for something locally, you can find at a health food store 2 of Burt's Bees and Nature's Gate's Aloe Vera Moist. And if you don't mind cheap drugstore ones, White Rain's Enriching Sunflower is protein-free.
