Is it better to apply styling products when your hair is sopping wet?

Like Tree2Likes

I get best results when my hair is really wet. I don't like it dripping down my back though, so normally I just scrunch the ends really quickly with my microfibre towel, then I apply products.

I find that the drier my hair gets before I apply product, the more frizz-prone it becomes when completely dried.

Aiming for WL curls (eventually)
It really depends with me. If I'm using a gel super soaker is usually the way to go. However if I use something lighter or a leave in it still has to be wet but not sopping.

Sometimes I get carried away and manipulate him too much. He tells me he's fine on his own but I never listen. I wash him less now and all in all we're happy.

So tonight I did the scalp oil treatment then washed and condished and then used honey and warm water as a final rinse. I left my hair as sopping as I could stand and then applied my products and wrapped in a cotton top.

I took it out before, it's still drying, but I put some leave in treatment in and it's very shrunk but not as fluffy or frizzy Is it better to apply styling products when your hair is sopping wet?-imageuploadedbycurltalk1385806973.451305.jpg

I keep changing what I do!!

Currently apply conditioner to very wet hair then squeeze a little water out of the canopy and apply more to the ends. Then apply gel diluted with water otherwise it's too thick to spread evenly, leave for a minute (gel seems to draw excess water out) then squeeze the canopy again before plopping.

I was previously effectively super soaking the back but that just made giant vertical clumps that split into a wreck when I turned right side up.

I am sure porosity/ damage plays a role in clumping and hence whether one needs a lot of water or not. My hair doesn't clump easily, it needs a fair bit of products and/ or water.
2a-2c, medium texture, porous/ colour treated. Three years CG. Past bra strap length heading for waist.

CO-wash: Inecto coconut/ Elvive Volume Collagen
Treatments: Komaza Care Matani, coconut/ sweet almond/ fractionated coconut oils, Hairveda Sitrinillah
Leave in: Fructis Sleek & Shine (old), Gliss Ultimate Volume, various Elvive
Styler: Umberto Giannini jelly, Au Naturale styling gelee
Flour sack towel, pixie diffuse or air dry.
Experimenting with: benign neglect
For me it depends on how I want my hair to look/the products I will you use etc.

A tip though!! If you like to style your hair when wet or when you happen to do so it helps to do it all in the shower and plop. Or you can always get a spray bottle if your hair dries fast.
