Dry Hair... Suggestions?

I've been following CG for around 3 months now and I have seen a vast improvement in my hair, however, it is still very dry. For years and years I have shampoo'd my hair daily and used lots of silicones.

Do you think that it will just take a long long time for my hair to become less dry?

Or do you think that perhaps I'm not using the right products? Maybe they're not moisturising enough? I condition with Umberto Giannini Easy Comb Rich conditioner mixed with honey and style with Boots and Andrew Collinge Gelle.

Should I just do lots and lots of deep treatments?

Or do some people just have dry hair and there's not a lot you can do with it?

My hair doesn't look bad. There's lots of curl, and I've got so much volume, I just don't like the feel of it. I suppose I just want it to feel softer and moisturised.

Sorry for all the questions... guess I'm just thinking out loud!!

You might try an ACV (apple cider vinegar) rinse as you might be overconditioned. If that doesn't help, your hair might just need lots of moisture and deep treatments would help. I know Boots is a leave-in, but you may want to try leaving in a bit of your conditioner and skip the Boots and see if that helps.

My hair needs lots of moisture and I have to either leave in alot of my conditioner or use lots of a leave-in. Except for Boots, I've never used the other two products you mentioned, but hopefully someone else can comment on them.

Oh, and don't worry about the questions - that's what this site is all about !

Thank you

I don't think my hair is overconditioned. I doubt that'll ever happen to be honest!

I think I'll try some deep treatments and like you say perhaps leave some of my regular conditioner in to see if that helps.

Thank you for your advice.

One question about deep treatments though... do you co wash and condition like normal after one?.. or do you just rinse it out and style from there?

Okay, this is the third time I'm posting this - AOL's browser kept logging me off when I'd try to post !

It does seem impossible to be overconditioned, but it can happen. You'd be surprised what an ACV rinse can do if you are.

I *think* if you use a protein DT, you're supposed to condition afterwards. If not, you should be able to style and go.

I'm bumping this hoping someone else will chime in.

I think I will give an ACV rinse a try then just in case ... it's worth a shot!

Thanks again

How about a leave-in conditioner? I doesn't look like you're using one in your routine. There's lots of CG leave-ins. I often leave a little Elucence Moisture Balance Conditioner in my hair, and I have to say, my hair used to be so dry, now it often ends up overconditioned and my curls start to deflate by the end of the day. So I just purchased some Phyto 9 from drugstore.com and waiting for it to come in. I am hoping it won't weigh my hair down as much as the Elucence. I'll post the results after I use it a couple of times. It should be CG. Here's the ingredients:

Althaea Officinalis Extract (Botanical Origin), Arctium Majus Root Extract (Bardane) (Botanical Origin), Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract (Botanical Origin), Savlvia Officinalis (Sage) Leaf Extract (Botanical Origin), Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract (Botanical Origin), Salix Alba (Willow) Leaf Extract (Botanical Origin), Hyoericum Perforatum Extract (millepertuis) (Botanical Origin), Lecithin (soja) (Botanical Origin), Madcadamia Ternifolia Seed Oil (Botanical Origin), Sodium Dehydroaceate (Preservative), Phenoxyethanol (Preservative), Parabens (Ethyl, butyl) (Preservative)

I have been trying a new product for my dry hair and it has been really helping its Loreal Mega Moisture. Its a deep treatment and I have been using it everytime I do my hair. Some times I do use heat with it probally once a week but the rest of the time I just leave it in while I do my shower stuff
