How did I not know about Alba Strong Hold Gel?? WOW!!

How does it compare to BRHG?

Thats the only hard hold gel I have tried so far - I do like it. But I have nothing to compare it with lol. My curls need a strong hold but I hate build up or feeling weighed down/slightly greasy with product.

This one is actually available here, unlike a lot of the gels talked about on here

Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: CJ Beauticurls, CJ A&OO, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: Mop C, KCCC, SCE FSG
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

Its slightly cheaper than BRHG here, but I noticed it has aloe and glycerin in - so Im going to wait a while and try it out in the warmer months Most of the drugstore gels talked about here we cannot get over in the UK - although I noted LA sports gel (is it the blue one?) is available on amazon for about 9, same price as BRHG. But Im glad to have some of these options. I like that Alba has protein (is that right?) my hair likes protein
bumping this thread back up because I have a question! Is it just me or does your hair seem to suck up this gel? I feel like when I scrunch in this gel I keep on having to add more and more because my hair doesn't get that "gel" feeling.

Surprisingly, for a strong hold gel, I don't get that crunchy feeling...maybe that's why I like it so much. I hate the crunch...and I'm terrible at SOTC. It never works for me.
3a/b, fine hair (just lots of it!), average porosity, high elasticity, fragile curls

No Poo and loving it! Gave up my hair dryer and never looked back!

Favorite Condishs: Suave Naturals (cowash) or TRESemme Naturals
Leave-In: CJ Curl Assurance Leave-in or KCKT
Curl Creme: AG re:coil or SS Hair Butter
Gel: HETT, GF Gel

Product Junkie...Swap board addict!
I finally got around to trying this gel. I had to wait until my dews got a bit higher due to the glycerin in it. I like it. It held up well all day - as good as BRHG for me. It is thick but distributed ok. It dried pretty crunchy (not quite as bad as BRHG) but scrunched out easily. I did put some CJ curl queen gel over it. I did not use a cream or leave in product under. I shampooed, conditioned and then right to the Alba gel and then the CJ CQ gel.

This definitely works better for me than the MGASG, which didn't have much hold for me. HTH.
Update: It held up all day! Yay! I might even get second day hair out of this....woot woot!
I am really intrigued by this Alba gel!

Has anyone who has used the Alba gel previously tried Max Green Alchemy Sculpting Gel (in the tube, not the one in the pump bottle)? I love MGASG but it's pricey. Wondering if Alba is a similar hold. Heck for that price, I need to try it anyway. But I am still curious if anyone can compare them at this point.
