Yay I love my hair again!
I love my hair again woohoo!
Some of you read about some freak lathering I get with conditioner..... most maybe not anyhoo I've had buildup of some sort for about a week now. I did a vinegar rinse, vinegar and conditioner wash then I used a no sulfate poo. It was a tiny bit better but then came back with a vengence sooooo
I no poo'd this morning and it lathered. I thought well that's weird it never did that before. But then I rinsed and rinsed and my hair felt dry. Ok well I cleansed so maybe that's it, then I put on Elucence BMC and worked it in and tons of lather! Grrrrr
I rinsed rinsed rinsed (warm water but not hot) then I put conditioner on, lather still! Omg I'm in hair h*ll! So I kept putting a diff conditioner on to see if it had something to do with it. After the 5th conditioner (all cg of course let's not be silly here :D ) I finally whipped out the suave clarifying shampoo Ack! It lathered hugely because of course mostly my hair has been cleansed enough today but then I rinsed and rinsed, conditioned and a tiny bit of lather so I rinsed and conditioned again and figgin finally no lather!
I used Beauty without cruelty leave in and wow I got great clumping even on top! That funky flap of straightish hair is almost cured! I put in Angell and omg! My hair is curlier than usual even!
I could just cry  literally. I wrote this book in case some other poor soul is having this problem. I can't figure out if it's proteins hanging onto my hair and therefore hanging onto anything that suds (cream of nature was the shampoo) or if I had a waxy buildup that was doing it (SIF and CJ HB Fine leave in) I know others use this stuff fine but my hair must be a freak of nature.
I felt like that movie Ground Hogday, just keep doing it over and over and over until I got it right! [/b]
great to hear you finally cracked it medusa! hair can be SO frustrating - if only it would talk to us! if you have a problem, like dryness, you try a diff conditioner. still not better. try cutting out protein. still not better. and by the time you've worked out what was the problem, a different problem has appeared from switching up products!!
the lather thing does sound weird... you must suffer buildup badly, your hair can't be very porous. from what i understand, my hair IS quite porous, BUT i do suffer buildup. although i cant feel the buildup ON my hair, it still just LOOKS wrong if i've used too much of something or of one ingredient.
anyway i'm rambling. glad you got it sorted and you can enjoy soft, clumpy, bouncy curls again :)
That is the wierdest thing. I'm sorry this keep happening to you, but I'm glad you've got it under control for now. Where did you buy the Beauty Without Cruelty? I honestly wonder if this has something to do with the water in your house. I know you've talked about hard water, do you have a softener or shower filter?
jennyfurrens, yes that's exactly what happened. I had winter hair problems so I tried heavier conditioners and it was great for a day, ok next day and a nightmare since then. If my hair would talk it would smack me I'm sure
HippyChic- I did get a shower filter, I was just sure it was that too. Either my filter doesn't get something or it's something else? I swear yesterday my So who never notices my hair said "oh you haven't showered yet? I just noticed your hair" Man I was like forget this lemme go redo it. IF the SO notices it really does look like crap.
Now if it's not water what the heck could it be? The new leave in I used was the Hibiscus and banana fine , well not new but I hadn't used it in a while. Oh wait, I used that cream of nature too. That was the other new thing. Man I hope it's the cream of nature because I love my leave in.
I got BWC on the swap board. drugstore.com carries it I think though. It's the bright blue wrappered one. It's nice! I had forgotten I had it and when I put it on my hair clumped right up and with no heavy or greasy feel.
See if this link works for the bwc leave in Hippychic.
I called it vitalizing oops, revitalizing.
OOH it's cheap! Thanks for the link, I may have to include this in a purchase!
