First curly cut tomorrow! (fotki updated w. pics)
 

I've been trimming my own ends ever since i went curly in June and I'm finally getting a cut by a devachan trained stylist! I'm so so so excited. I havent had a good hair day in a while, and I'm hoping this will help.
Anyway, have any pre- haircut rituals that I can do before i go tomorrow?

Are you in southeastern PA? I am hoping my stylist of 10 years will be okay with my new regime but want to have a backup just in case.

I read the reviews for Philly last night. I may be really off-track, but I am a little suspicious of all the rave reviews for "Joseph", especially ones that are all posted on the same day.

I have an appt in early Jan for a cut/hilite with my person, but I almost think I should call her beforehand to gve her a heads up. Plus I'm not sure I want to do the cap thing if I'm trying to not beat on my hair anymore.

Anybody who's in my area lookin, I just made an appointment at JuJu's Salon on 4th street in south Philly. It's an organic salon they don't use sulfates or anything and there are three stylists there who are supposed to be good with curls, they even sell the Curlygirl book in the store. I read some really good reviews about this place...I have an appointment on the 22nd...so we shall see!!

The trip was a success :]

So I get there and everyone was really nice. First I had a consultation on what I wanted and what Teresa, the stylist thought i needed. I told her that I was in a growing out phase and wanted a good cut to do so and she agreed.
So she took my hair out of my ponytail (which looked a mess.. lol.) and started sppraying on lots of mister right and scrunching and cutting. Once she was done her very kind assisant washed me hair twice with low poo and conditoned with devacurl one condition, leaving in a little bit on the ends. When Teresa was finished cutting my moms hair, my conditoner was rinsed out. Then still with dripping wet hair, teresa scrunched in b'leave in fromm my ears down, and scrunched angell all over. She then diffused untill dry with a regular finger diffuser and dryer.
I had NO frizz and curl formation was goregous, but it was SHORT. and i when i say short i mean it. lol. Thats the only thing i didnt like about the cut, i think that even though my hair did shrink, she cut off a bit more than i would have liked. but overall, the appointment went very well. All of my dead ends are off, and I have awesome ringlets and shape. I wish i could post pictures but my dad left his camera at my grandparents house.
so yeah, that was my first curly cut :D

I'm glad it was a success!! It will grow back out fast I am sure, especially with how well you are caring for it :)

Aww thanks guys and I will definitley post up picks asap.

Now a day after, my hair looks so amazing. Consistant curls, no frizz, and it isnt as short as it originally was.
Oh and I am now an angell convert :lol:

I got the same results when I had mine done! But when I tried to do it myself -- I didn't get the same results. How about you? Do you get the same results on your own?
I'm thinking now it might be my drier??? Because I did exactly the same thing as the stylist and got completely different results. :(

I didnt want to do the same thing as the stylist in the first place because i knew that some of the things she did wouldnt consistantly work for my hair on a daily basis. For example, she used b'leave in on my ends and angell all over, but when i did it own my own this morning, i didnt use b'leave because i knew that the proteins would build up on my hair, so I just scrunched in angell all over and got awesome results. Also, I didnt use One C, but my trusty elucence which i know works well with my hair.
Everyone knows their hair better than any stylist could ever know, so I guess you just have to filter out all of the things stylists do that you know wont work so you dont try them. And filter the things that you know will work so you can use them.
