Default FSC???- Flax seed cream

Hello!

I need a wittle help here.
So I searched for a bunch of recipes for shea butter, and this one appeared. I am more than interested in finding out if any of you have used this cream before. I just whipped some up and honestly, although it may look white, its texture is SO not of a 'cream' it's more like a gummy paste. but then again the results is what matters not the texture.

so anywhoo.
has anyone tried this?!! if so post some before and after pics! if you have some if not, just review it PLEASE!!!!

thanks lovelies!!

What recipe did you use?
I make flaxseed gel. If it cooks too long, it gets really thick. The trick is to find that happy medium, snot like texture.

I used a recipe that called for
4oz of flax seed gel
3-4 tbsp of shea butter
2tsp of jojoba oil
2tsp of olive oil

whip the shea butter with oils then whip it in with the fsg.

i've used the regular flax seed gel but i was wondering about the one where they add in whipped shea butter. tried it?

Hmmm...I've never tried it, but it sure sounds cool -- and different! I would probably be interested in this (it would probably be considered a type of curl cream, right? I'm in need of one of those.)! Let us know how it goes, when you try it.

hey gals.

well i tried it and the end result was. very greasy hair. i mean the definition of the curls were incredible and they were bouncy and all that good stuff except for the fact that after my hair completely dried it got greasy. which only makes me want to remake the cream and add more fsg or just less whipped shea butter and probably melt ir or maybe instead whip it in a food processor and add the fsg slowly to help it really connect or however you say to the shea butter.

cause honestly if it weren't for the greasiness it would be amazing. in my opinion of course..

Cool! Sounds like it might be worth a shot! Let us know if you concoct some magical way to make the greasy feel of it go away!

OMGOODNESS!!!!!
:O

I think i found it! I found how to make this cream thingy actually work in my hair! and it's WONDERFULL!! i love it.

So I decided to not throw away the first batch, instead I used half of it. I made another batch of flax seed gel, 3oz, and while it was still hot, right after straining it, I slowly put half of the first gross batch in the recent gel and whipped it in until the shea butter was all dissolved. I did that continually until I finished the whole 2 oz of gross paste.
Now it looks JUST like a regular cream although it sort of has a little sticky feel, nothing like the regular flax seed gel. I refrigerated it over night to let the shea butter set it. and today in the morning after cowashing I put some in my hair. it's completely dry now and all i can say is OMGOODNESS!!

it's super soft and it has sufficient hold for me,( if you want a little more you could always add in less of the gross first mixture and put some more fresh fsg.) oh and the definition!!!! THE DEFINITION! if i could describe it correctly i would say HIGH definition! honestly, i don't want to brag or anything. but without the frizziness and crunchiness of w.e. my hair is amazing good today!!!! i love this.

You know if you post about how great your hair looks it just makes the rest of us want to see a picture.
Pic! Pic! Pic!
If my hair liked shea butter, I'd be whipping up a batch of FSC right now.

Ha ha! It seems we do that pretty often! I just looked back at another thread I posted to, thinking I was the first one who replied, and it turns out you posted before me, with practically the same things to say! Like you said -- the old saying is true -- great minds really DO think alike!! Ha ha!

Chiming in last here, but I just wanted to comment that the original recipe probably felt greasy because of all of the oils. Shea butter already acts as an oil, and when you add in four more teaspoons of that a lot of oil! I think if the jojoba and oilve oils were thrown out (ok, maybe leave ONE tsp) and maybe add a little AVG and coconut oil, this would be a wonderful recipe

I was just thinking along the same lines. I was thinking of only doing half of the shea butter and oils. That would essentially be the same as making the "gross" batch then adding it to FSG, right?

Wow, yea that is a lot of oils. My first batch I used 1 Tbsp of my lustrasilk mix and it had some oils but I think the ratio was less and it was a little too coated.

I tried it with GDLI
1 TBsp GDLI
2 TBsp FSG
1 TBsp Mirra gel (kroger brand)

I have it in today. Topped it with some more Mirra gel and plopped on my way to work. Why not it's dark!?! I like it much better. When I first got to work I was thinking I might reduce the GDLI to 2tsp but it's not greasy or coated. I think this one's a keeper.

I will be playing with different gels, the Mirra is ok for now so I use it up.
