Curl Junkie or Spiral Solutions???

Cyndi-I've had the same problem with using the CEJ & FHG at first, so melaniesusan told me she uses 3 full pumps of the CEJ with the FHG and I was a little skimpy on mine since I only have the sample size. so I tried it with more like she does and it gives me much more root curl and curl all over and seemed to hold better too. It is a very soft natural feel to it which I love...but sometimes that means sacrificing some definition towards the end of the day. I did find that scrunching in a little water off my hands in the BR helps reactivate it though and that may help you too.

I have been following this post closely as I am currenly trying out both CJ and SS. Yesterday I used CJ smoothing lotion + CEJ + FHG. Hair was very soft, better than I think it's ever felt. Started out with minimal frizz but got worse as day went on. I had very little root curl but great sprirals starting about halfway down. Maybe it was the way I diffused. Would have loved this combo if had more root curl.
Today I used the very last little bit of CCCC I had left from my sample + CEJ + CIAB. So far I love this combo! Great root curl, shiny, defined curls, very little frizz, more crunch to scrunch out today than yesterday and hair doesn't feel bad but not as great as it did yesterday. WIll try CJ BLI, CEJ, FHG next time

I haven't yet tried the CJ smoothing lotion - if I didn't work for you, maybe it was too heavy for your hair? Or, are your dews still low? It has a lot of glycerin in it.

Yeah, I don't think I'm crazy about the SL. I needed a protein free leave in and it was all i had. I am getting the CJBLI today and hope to like it much better. Our dews here in Tx are in the low 50's today.

Let us know how the CJBLI works for you. I love it; it's one of my top 3 favorite leave-in conditioners. (Other favorites are MD red clover/honey and Shescentit coco creme).

hey girls, a little off the subject of SS or CJ...I got my Jessecurl sample in the mail today and just finished drying it and I have beautiful clumps and spirals but a lot of surface spider web frizz! Anyone ever try using the JCRR with the SSFHG to combat the frizz?

I use both and love both.
CJ products I LOVE:
banana hibiscus DT
CIAB
CCCC Lite
Beauticurls conditioner
I want to try the new product that has more hold than CIAB too.
I have to stay away from glycerine so it gets a little tricky for me with CJ b/c a lot of her products have glycerine way high up on the list.
The smoothing conditioner (leave in) is nice too.

Spiral Solutions:
I just recently decided to try SS based on the reviews here and ordered the Jelly and LOVE IT! It may even be a HG product for me. I feels like a gel, but it light, and can be scrunched out, not sticky, holds frizz at bay, and is a great base under another product. LOVE it!
Wanting to try the Deep Conditioner b/c ppl say they use it as a leave in and styler which would be great b/c it doesn't have glycerine. I would also like to try the gel but saw that on the reviews a lot of ppl are having trouble with flaking.

It is interesting to read the things ppl are saying on here and helps me spend wisely.

I also absolutely LOVE LOVE LOVE Darcy Botanicals Pumpkin Conditioner--definitely a HG in my rotation, that stuff is like magic and smells like you want to eat it! I am wanting to try more in that line as well but my hair doesn't like castor oil so I'm kind of hesitant b/c a lot of that line has castor oil and some of them also have glycerine.

I swim 3-4x per week, use a cap but I still get that nasty water in my hair plus I color my hair. My hair drinks everything up, it must be VERY porous. Mix in the coloring, swimming, and sun here in FL and well, I need great conditioners and stylers that double as conditioners.
Hair Type-3b Location: Florida

Poo: Jessicurl HCC, As I Am
Conditioners: Aubrey Organics, KCKT, CJ HBDT, Darcy's Botanicals
Leave In/Styling: KCCC, Darcy's Botanicals, SS
Favorites (HG): KCCC; spiral solutions jelly; darcy's botanicals, FSG
No-No's: castor oil, beeswax, glycerine, silicones
LOVE: aloe vera, agave nectar, shea butter, flax seed gel; good DT's once a week

asianrunner- How do you like the DM curling gelly? Does it enhance your curls more than SS CEJ? It sounds like a homemade FSG with a lot of great add ins! What do you usually use over it as a gel?

I think it does work better for me than CEJ as I get more waves from the DM. But CEJ plays better with other products since sometimes I mix it with others like KCCC.

I pretty much use whatever gel I like with the DM. I used BRHG with it last summer and I'm sure Curl Queen will work nicely as well!

My dews are always low here in Arizona, but I haven't noticed that I have a problem with glycerin in products. I even thought I needed glycerin in an aloe product to combat the frizz I get from aloe. I may need to try some of the DM since the JCRR and CC seems to be making me really frizzy, maybe it's the Mag. sulf.

On a side note, Beebop, I think we may have similar hair. My hair has similar properties and seems to have the have the same types of reactions to products.
waves, loose coils, and cherub curls (=mixed 2s through 3a), very fine texture overall (but with medium and even coarse strands scattered throughout)
I'm going to try the RR alone and the CC alone and see which one has the most curl enhancement minus the frizz and then use a different gel over it and see if that helps. Otherwise I'll order big size bottles of the SS products instead, since Curl junkie is backordered until April 11th. I'll take a little less curl enhancement versus the Frizz!

it's a great site. the code now is FIVE and you get a 15% discount.
over $50 it's $1 shipping, under is $5 shipping, flat rate.

and there is a new code you can also use, it's for $75 or more and you get $15 off. AY15off75

the code changes from time to time, they always send you a card with your items telling you current code and/or code coming up.

and, if you haven't purchased for awhile, just ask on here as someone will know the code.

don't know where you are located, but the shipping is fast -- i get mine within 48 hours of ordering!

rbb, can you use more than one code at a time? I'm waiting for a big sale somewhere so I can load up on CJ products!

Thanks for the info. rbb- I looked at the website but they don't have the sample packs since I haven't tried anything yet thats what I'm waiting for, then if I like it I can order from there. Are they cheaper than ordering directly from CJ or here?

They can be cheaper if you order enough to use the discount code, and $1 shipping is very cheap. But I found that the shipping isn't fast imo. Maybe it depends on where you are. I'm in Calif. and it took over a week. They use UPS, and Priority would've been faster. But maybe they don't get a good rate for Priority, I don't know. Either way, it's a small complaint when the shipping is cheap and if you spend enough you do get the discount.
I liked that I was able to get some CJ stuff that had been discontinued and unavailable anywhere else.
That's me with FSG as my styler!!

3b. fine & thick, coarse, dry, medium porosity. Sucks up product and loves ACVs! FSG is my HG!

it's cheaper than order from curl junkie unless she has a sale. i believe she is going to have an easter sale.
don't think curlmart has more than 15% off on any sale, so i would assume aveyou.com is cheaper in that their shipping is cheaper, and their turnaround time is MUCH faster. for me, aveyou time is less than 48 hours, curlmart is 10 days. curljunkie has fast turnaround time also, usually 2 days.
aveyou does not carry everything -- not sure if they have the sample packs. and sometimes, even tho marsha gives them the newest formulations, they don't put it up til the old one is gone --ie, the gentle assurance shampoo, last i looked it was the old formulation.

asianrunner -- it's one code (there is usually only one code except when there is some overlay or a special code) and the shipping is always $1 for over $50 with the discount.

At least after I get some samples I'll know where to get them cheaper, especially if I'm ordering for the first time I'll probably have a bigger order.

Just wanted to chime in and say I think I'm having the best hair day ever!! Today I used the CJBLI+CEJ+FHG and topped it off with a little CIAB = winning combo!! Great, clumpy spirals, bounce, definition, shine, and about as frizz-free as I'm gonna get I thought the CJCCCC I used in place of the BLI the other day was good, but my ends seemed dry/frizzy. I figure maybe it's the wheat protein in the CCCC, so I'm trying to eliminate proteins from my products & see if it helps. Using the BLI today, my ends are more moisturized and less frizzy. Gotta love a good hair day

Cyndi, I don't do good with wheat protein either, the CCCC lt. Does not have that in it, so that could be an option for you too. Can't wait to get my samples and try all the CJ products thanks to two wonderful cur lies on here that helped me out!
