Curl Junkie or Spiral Solutions???

Like Tree4Likes

I had the day off today so I was able to try the CEJ/FHG combo again and I used about 4 pumps on the back half of my hair and 3 pumps on the front and top half of the CEJ then used about two quarter size of the FHG. Came out a lot better, full of loose spirals, tons of body and fullness! I love that these natural products actually work for me since nothing else natural ever really worked well. It's also very soft and natural feeling and still held all day without losing curl. Tomorrow I'll try the FHG alone again and compare...seems the curl was tighter with the FHG alone but not as full bodied throughout, I had more root curl with the FHG alone but sometimes that leads to my layers looking a little funny around the crown area, I think I like todays better.

I would say if you don't need volume but need more root curl to try the FHG alone. I haven't tried a leave in under them yet, does anyone else use a leave in with these? I really like the SS products and may need to try more of her products as well since I've heard so many good reviews on her PT and DT as well as the protein spray.

You must be able to use a lot more product than I can. Or I wonder if your pump on the CEJ gives you less than mine does. When I pump out the CEJ, I get about a good quarter-sized amount. Three pumps is about I can use and if I'm using something else with it, I sometimes don't need that much and I have a LOT of hair.

I always use a leave-in of some kind underneath both the CEJ and FHG. I have all of the SS products except for the repair treatment, I think. I don't have as much luck with the Caitlyn's conditioner - not enough slip for me. I haven't used it in awhile, though, so I might have to pull it out again and see if that's still the case, but I love all of her other stuff.

I also always use a leave-in underneath CEJ + FHG. Perhaps that's why I can get away with using less CEJ than you can.

BTW, the secret to using regular CJ CCCC is: (1) not using too much product; (2) always supersoaking with tons of water to ensure good product distribution and avoid concentrating product in your scalp area; and (3) using a gelly or gel ontop for hold.

It look me a long time to figure this out -- at first I detested CCCC -- but now it's an HG product for me. I only like it in high dews, however; it doesn't work for me the rest of the year because of the high glycerin content. I think the combination of the water I add through supersoaking, plus the extra water in the air during high dews, keeps it from being too heavy in my fine 3A hair. My curls turn out plump, light, and fluffy with lots of bounce.

I only have one other MD product-the red clover leave in. I have not found that to be wonderful for me but I will continue to try it out. Maybe I was not using enough.

I dip three or four fingers in the jar of MD about three times, if that gives you any sense of amount. Also, I like using the MD leave-in to SOTC in low dews (the CSC can be a bit heavy on dry hair in colder weather).

This morning my hair is drying with just the FHG on it alone no leave in to compare to yesterday, and then I may try both with a leave in and see if I can use less CEJ. I have a lot of fine hair, but only med. density I would say, not near as thick as yours msgiblet and not as long right now as yours melaniesusan . After getting it cut a couple weeks ago she had to even it out because I had my first "curly cut" before that and it was an uneven mess! so it's right at my shoulders or a little past now, just a smidge shorter than my avatar.

Maybe I will try the CCCC lt. this summer when we go to San Diego in the high humidity or if it rains again hear in a AZ. (which isn't very often!)

I used my leave in under the CEJ/FHG and my hair turned out the same as yesterday, a lot of soft spirals and a ton of body with a few fly aways around the crown. The only difference I can see with just using the FHG is more defined looking spirals and a lot less body and fullness, therefore no fly aways ( I guess it's a trade off, body with fly aways or less body without) My hair feels much thicker with the CEJ in it too, I assume thats the salts and agave maybe, so it looks really full when I pull back part of it in a clip. The FHG also has vit. e in it so maybe that is a little more smoothing. I love both, just depends on what kind of look I want for the day.

So I tried the CJ Repair Me and then followed with the Rehab, felt really nice and slippery soft in the shower...then I use CIAB and CQ and when I SOTC my hair was soft and lifeless, not much curl at all, very shiny though but I expected it to boost my curl and it did the opposite, kind of like what happened after I used AOHR which I assumed was just too moisturizing and heavy for my hair.
Anyone else had this happen? I re-washed tonight with the CJ curl fix and followed with my own conditioner as a rinse out, so we'll see if it's any better after it dries.

I expect Rehab was too much for you. The repair me is a protein treatment but it is very moisturizing - most of us don't bother following up with a DT.

Now, I don't normally use anything after the Repair Me, but when I do, I don't need much of either.

The third time, and continuing to the present, I don't follow it with a separate rinse-out, and hair turns out great every time. I use it about once a week, leave it in for a few minutes, and then rinse and style as ususal.

I love CJ curl rehab by itself - can't use anything else moisturizing before it (like a co-wash) or it overwhelms my hair. I use it after a low poo about once every 10-14 days.

When I used to do a separate protein treatment that wasn't at all conditioning, like Nexxus Emergencee, then I would follow with Curl Rehab and leave the CR in for about an hour. But now I either do the Repair me, or the Curl Rehab, but not both together. And with either one, I only leave in my hair for about 5 minutes during my shower and then rinse out and apply styling products.

Thanks guys, I kind of remember KM telling me that a while back and forgot about it. I got a little more curl back after the curl fix. Can I use it again today after a low poo without a follow-up cond. to try and get more curl back or do I need to wait a while? I guess it's a little overcoditioned at this point.

I forgot to ask you all, after I figure all this out I'll need to order one of the PT's when I'm done with my samples. I didn't get the SS PT sample and prefer using 100% natural products and wanted to know how you all would compare it to the CJ PT's, does it work as well and I notice she recommends a DT to follow, do I have to have her DT or could I use my own natural cond.? Thanks again!

I really like the CIAB but am now wondering if I'd get more hold with the SS CEJ? CIAB doesn't really have much hold for me but maybe I'm not using enough. I've been using it with CJ CQ and I find the combo a little too producty in the summer. But then again I've been using CJ Repair Me as my rinse out just about every time too. Too much protein maybe?

CIAB is definitely a lighter hold - VERY light for me. In the colder / lower dew weather, I can wear it over CCCC and it works great. But, that combo gets frizzy in the higher dews on me. CCCC w/CJCQ over it has been working great for me this summer. If you have some CCCC on hand, you might want to try that.

As for CJRM - I can only use that once in a while - it's very rich and it does tend to make me a bit producty sometimes. Maybe before you change your styling products you can try another condish. That might make all the difference for you.

When I SOTC of the FHG, my hair is just as soft as when I use a gelly (not at all producty) but I have more hold. I'm using CIAB in summer as an anti-frizz serum only.
