Update:

I still love both SS and CJ!

Although I usually stick to regular CCCC in high dews, recently I've been experimenting with CCCC lite (my winter staple) and am really loving it in the summer. My best summer combo so far is:

CJ CCCC lite + CJ CIAB + SS FHG.

This combo gives me less frizz in high dews than any other combo I've tried so far. I've used CIAB and FHG with lots of other things, without the same results, so I'm pretty sure that the CCCC lite is the key player here. Also, air drying with this combo (rather than diffusing) helps a lot (though I have to show up at work with relatively wet hair).

I don't get as much hold with the FHG as with BRHG -- my curls are looser -- but I'm willing to take looser curls in exchange for softer hair.

I'm currently experimenting with Curly Kinks Coil Jam as a substitute for FHG. So far, it has a little less hold than FHG but leaves my hair even softer. Either way, CCCC lite seems to play well with a variety of different products, and has truly become a year-round product for me. Yay!

Recently, I tried CJ CQ + BRHG as a substitute for CJ CIAB + SS FHG and had very nice results. My combo:

CJ CCCC lite + CJ CQ + BRHG

There was only a tiny bit of frizz when it dried, so I scrunched in a little CJ aloe fix gel as a sealant, and then scrunched that out once it dried. I had very nice results!

I don't care for CJ CQ in low dews - too much protein, I suspect - but I was surprised how well it worked in high dews.

Next time, I want to try this combo without the BRHG (since I just used a dab anyway), and see how my hair holds up. The added aloe fix gel to seal might suffice for the extra hold I need.

I'd also like to try this again with regular CCCC instead of CCCC lite, and see if there's a difference.

Anyone else using (and liking) CJ CQ in high dews? If so, how are you using it?

I have had good luck using CJ CQ this past summer (there have been days I've had experiments go badly and the only thing that saved my hair was Curl Queen). I use a good bit of it (probably 2-3 small palmfuls) and scrunch that throughout my hair. I then scrunch a 50:50 mix of AIF+BRHG and diffuse.

Default CCCC

I recently pulled out a jar of CCCC I had purchased awhile ago and noticed one of the ingredients is-
Dimethicone PEG-8 Benzoate.

I thought the "PEG" had to be in front in order to make it an ok cone.
Is this CG approved or no?

according to what i've read, Dimethicone PEG-8 Benzoate is water soluble.

and, i also believe all curl junkie products are cg.

I discovered that BRHG is unnecessary if I just use more CQ rather than less. Foregoing the BRHG makes my hair much less producty.

So the final result: CJ CCCC lite + CQ gives me better hold than CJ CCCC lite + SS FHG + CJ CIAB. (It's probably due to the protein and PVP in CJ CQ which SS FHG doesn't have.) I'll probably switch back to SS FHG once the dews drop, but for now, I'm definitely preferring CJ CQ.

For fall, I'm enjoying the following combo:

CJ beauticurls leave-in + SS CEJ + SS FHG

It's nice now that the dews have dropped not to worry about frizz anymore!

I like SS but I LOVE CJ!!! I just bought a ton of CJ products and I have to say, I'm loving each and every one of them so far. I also prefer the dessert scents that CJ products have, but that's just a personal preference. SS products smell nice too. But I'd try CJ first, those products are amazing
