You should respond with "Yeah, I don't like you all that much either." That ought to shut them up.

HA This happens to me all the time. I think it's strange to flippantly tell people you hate them, even if you're just being melodramatic. "Like, ohmyGOD, I HATE you SO MUCH! Like, SO not fair!!*giggle giggle*"

LOL. It's b'coz they think about all the fried perms & curling iron burns they've had, trying to get our look. And they have this vision in their heads that we just roll out of bed, product-free, with our curls looking like that. Hence the hatred. I find explaining "I have many layers of creams & gels on, & it took 4 hrs to dry" really deflates the hate.

Yeah. I feel bad because at the same time I'm admiring their hair. Straight hair is just as beautiful as wavy or curly hair. If only people would learn to accept and work with what they've got...

LOL. YEs people say that to me all the time. I usually respond by saying "everyone wants what they don't have...I'd like to have straight hair sometimes."

Ditto what ZARIA** said. It can be hard to know how to respond (I like CurlEEEE's response) but I don't see any reason to take offense. They don't actually hate you.

Currently using: Whole Foods 365 Herbal Mint Conditioner (co-wash), MOP Mixed Greens Conditioner, Paul Mitchell Lite Detangler, CK, ISO Bouncy Creme. Gave up on plopping due to tangles/"stickiness" and now I just comb through products and diffuse. It looks basically as good and dries a lot faster (I wasn't getting good clumps from plopping anyway). Still wish I were a lot curlier!

I'm a Corporate Trainer, so I'm always meeting new people. At least once a month I get asked "is your hair natural?" and when I say yes I almost always hear "oh you're so lucky....I hate you....I wish my hair was like that" so on and so on. It used to really tick me off (the hate you part), but then I realized that they aren't actually saying they hate me or my hair. They say it because they love my hair, they think it looks great and they want hair just like it. Now I take it as a compliment and I usually respond with something like "oh, thank you...it's a lot of work but I like it".
