I did it today for the first time in a long time. I was seeing breakage through out my hair. I think it may be from using eco styler krystal so long? Idk. But I find it makes my hair fuzzy. I have to keep re applying it as it dries. But so far, it's okay. I like it but it seems like it may give inconsistent results.

I've been alternating between conditioner only and using a styler. My hair (me too!) is loving the simplicity and results. My faves so far are tressemme naturals and suave coconut. I have a number of conditioners I still want to try. I find that I sometimes need to apply a little more conditioner as it dries, but that's not a big deal since its just a few spots. When using a styler (mousse, fsg, etc.) I find that my hair likes less...not multiple products or layers. I have not experienced my hair having a "producty" feel with conditioner only styling, except for the Devacare One C (just slightly).

I have some questions for you conditioner styling curlies.
Do you use a heavier conditioner in the winter?
Do you change your routine in the winter or do you use the same products/technique all year?
Do you find yourself getting "over conditioned"?

Im loving CO styling only this summer. So far, I've eliminated so many extra steps that i've realized:
1) Renpure is too heavy for my hair (among many other things)
2) My hair loves protein in my leave ins as they provide structure, lock in moisture and lock out frizzies
3) I can use protein in my LI's and knock out having to PT, which is too much for my hair anyways
4) My hair loves humectants in normal dews
5) The higher the dews the heavier the proteins
6) I must seal AFTER conditioning and BEFORE supersoaking my leave in (grapeseed only, looking to try sunflower/safflower/sweet almond)
7) I only need to rinse with water daily before conditioning and conditioner styling. Yay!for no build up from styling products...
AND, lowpooing weekly seems just enough for now

I will love experimenting with other VO5 conditioners come winter, (maybe Strawberries & Champagne or Strawberries & Cream) but a bit worried about needing something heavier when dews drop, and not being able to find the right light conditioning balance. We'll see
3B, Fine, Normal P, Normal E, Low-Med D
LowP: Kinky Curly Come Clean (50% EVOO)
NoP: As I Am CC
RO: Suave Coconut, VO5 Shea Cashmere
LI: KCKT or CJBCLI or HETT/HENOYF (w/ 8 drops GSO)

I tried conditioner only and boy did it suck.....my family liked it but naaaaa. I'm thinking i didn't apply enough nor did i distribute it evenly but i won't try it again for a while. Here's the fluffy mess.

my hair seems to "soak" everything up that i give it, tons of coconut oil or conditioner ect.

my hair: 3c, high porosity, high density and coarse hair (i think i finally figured that all out)
my hair loves conditioner only styling!
my hair goal length is bra strap length when curly.

I also blog about my hair journey, please feel free to read and comment/ask questions http://www.naturallycurly.com/blogs/...air-blogs/2494
Mine too!! I don't like to use products at all, I don't like my hair super clumpy, just soft and moisturized. And I don't care much about curl enhancement. Just using conditioner makes my hair soft, shiny, a frizz free.
2A/B fine but dense
on and off CG since 11/11
trying it out again 8/12

My products:
Jessicurl Aloeba (used as co-wash, light leave in, and RO)
Jessicurl Too Shea (used as DC, heavier leave in, and RO)
MopTop Gentle shampoo

I switch it up between co-washing and low-pooing

keeping it simple
I just wanted to share how my hair has progressed since I started this thread way back when. I got a lot of hair cut off in September 2010 and have been growing it and trimming it myself since. I use conditioner-only styling most days (occasionally mousse), but the second picture reflects a day where I only used conditioner, GVP CB.

The first picture is after the big haircut, and the second picture is a few days ago in very high humidity, but just conditioner and air-drying, nothing else. I never thought it could be this easy or CHEAP to like my hair.

I do use a sulfate shampoo and sometimes a shampoo for swimming, because my hair just doesn't like conditioner-only washing. But it loves conditioner-only styling!

I tried the conditioner-only thing a few weeks ago because it seriously appealed to my minimalist tendencies. Unfortunately, my hair was just a little...too...fluffy. Couldn't handle it. Had to keep fixing/touching it, which seemed to add more work and defeat the purpose of deleting a step.

What it DID make me discover is that I only need a very, very tiny amount of gel to be happy - about half of what I had been using. In addition to looking slightly BETTER (more curly, for some reason), scrunching out the crunch is easier and dry time decreased about 15 minutes.

Minimalist self = happy.
I wrote a book. It's called Freefly. It's about a girl who can fly and how that's, uh, problematic. Be all wonderful and check that stuff out.
My pictures got switched above. The first picture is actually the "after" having used conditioner-only for a long time. The second picture is the oldest picture, having had my hair cut short.

I had to add another technique I started trying with this. After I apply the conditioner, I put my hair in two pig-tail-like braids behind my ears. I let them dry however long I have time for, and when I undo the braids, I get mermaid waves. Again, no money required. I'm all about these cheap/free, non-heat ways to do my hair.

I think I'm a wavy, but I think the longer it gets the length pulls out the curl pattern. I have some really curly pieces and then some not so curly pieces. I've noticed if I comb after I rinse out my conditioner, it ends up a lot less curly. So, if I comb before rinsing out I have a lot more curl.
i did something the last few days that i've been skipping for over a year now -- dt with heat!!

i used my usual cj deep fix with the heat wrap turban on for about 20 minutes --WOW! talk about conditioner-styling! i will make it a point to make time for this. i did it in the evening, then rinsed some of the conditioner out, then slept with it. the heat makes a difference.

Sooooo, overdid the protein while on a trip to the Keys and fell off the conditioner styling only bandwagon. OOOps! Going soft on the proteins, heavy on the moisture and getting great hair again. New products and loving them

Did conditioner only styling today with tresemme naturals moisturizing one, omg. I have beautiful hair. I tried it last time with tresemme naturals but in the volumizing one by accident and it didn't work. Hopefully when my scalp finishes drying, it'll be more voluminous. If it is, I'll be doing conditioner only styling...i think this would be better for winter anyways. Especially since I'm doing a no heat challenge. I'll need to know how to make the curls work and keep them moisturized. I'll probably try buns and updos though most the time. To retain length. Okay goodness, i ramble. Lol but yeah, conditioner only styling looks like a winner!

I'm so jealous of you guys!! I wish i could do this! My hair needs the hold. Tho maybe one day (when I have nowhere to go that day) I'll give it a try. I'm pretty sure it won't go so well, tho. :/

No, experiment! You just have to find the right conditioner. I thought i needed the hold too..but i don't. I'll post a picture of my hair. It looks better than when i used conditioner, a gel and a mousse. I love it.

Looks JUST like when i used gel and all the other products. Except now, it's softer and I'm sure it'll be a lot healthier this way, and easier to detangle. Yeaaaaah man!
