A curly pixie cut...?

I think pixie cuts can be so cute! I really want super short hair, but I was wondering:

-What do YOU think about pixie cuts?

-Would it be harder or easier to manage than medium length hair (mine's mostly 3a/3b)?

-Have you ever had a pixie?

-Do you have a picture? If so, please post it!

Also, I would love to hear your stories about short hair.
Pixie cuts are very cute. I love them! I had one myself about 20 years ago. A really short one. But as a curly my curls look better a little longer. My pixie took all the curl out of my hair. My hair is very fine, just alot of it. As I have gotten older the pixie just doesn't work for my middle aged widening face. Need more volume so while I still have short hair, it is longer - about 9 inches on top but the curl adds softness and height.
54, mix of 3a, 2b,c, with the occasional straight strand thrown in to keep things interesting. Low porosity. Very fine!

HG: CJCF Never lets me down.
Others I Like: DevaCurl One Co, CHSCK, Giovanni Smooth as Silk, SSDD, AnGel, DevaCurl No Poo, Elucence Moisture Balancing Condish, Curls Like Us towels.

i love pixie cuts. i had my hair cut into one this july. but be sure if you want one that you want it for a while. im trying to grow mine out because i miss the curls, i miss having options, i miss longer hair.the growing out process is far more difficult than i thought.
I don't know if you would consider this a pixie cut, but this is how I had my hair about 3 years ago:

I would say the length was about 2 to 4 inches, depending. I also have had my hair cur SUPER short, a la Halle Berry in her Oscar-winning days, but I didn't like that cut as much - it was so short that my curl didn't show, and I think I looked pretty much like a boy!

Both cuts required some thinning and razoring, so be mindful of that if you decide to get one. My hair is pretty thick, so I had to have it razored so it would lay down right - but if yours isn't terribly thick, you might be able to get away with not doing that, and therefore not messing up your ends as much. As for care, both cuts were amazingly simple to care for - wash, condition, towel dry, gel, arrange with fingers, and done. 5 minutes, tops. I do miss that part of it!!

If you get one, please post a photo!

i forgot to add that for me(3a fine ,but tons off it)my hair was much easier to do pixie and short. it stayed straight with the right products even in the humidity and i could go a few days with just touch ups.
with it curly(now its still pretty short but with headbands and scarfs i can wear it curly)i have to wash every day, use tons of products and its a guess as to how its going to turn out.hmmm makes me wonder why i want to grow it out.. because women are supposed to have long hair.....?i know ive gotton far more compliments on my pixie than i ever did long and curly.
Love it.
I had a pixie when I was younger and gradually grew it out--grow-out process was pretty good, would have been fine all around if I had known about CG!

For me (3a):
-easy to take care of
-didn't have awkward "I'm not supposed to have a fro..." hair, although I could fluff it out when I wanted
-had nice curl; I'd have better curl if I had more root curl, but whatever--this would also give me the better root volume I was looking for

overall I think it would work.

Hi. I'm a teen with thick wavy/ curly hair. (I think it might be a 2c, Iím not sure though) and I've tried everything. I've tried styling it with mouse, gel, blow drying it with a diffuser, styling cream, aloe Vera oil, and leave in conditioner but they all leave my hair the same!!! I'm getting sick and tired of it because when it dries it goes POOF! I try to comb it but it just takes away my curls and leaves me with puffy spongy looking hair, so I just tie it up in a bun (which is extremely boring). Iím getting really annoyed with my hair and some days I feel like shaving it all off! So, Iím searching for the next best thing. Then one day it hit me, I was watching the movie Megamind and I feel completely in love with Roxanne Ritchiís haircut! I asked my mom if I could cut my hair like hers and she said that it would look like a fro and make me look like a boy. Extremely discouraged, I set out to find a curly pixie haircut and I found Audrey Tatouís pixie. So I was wondering if anybody knows of a haircut that will look like Audrey Tatouís if I style my natural curls but at the same time look like Roxanne Ritchiís if I straighten it?

I got a really good cut and it's super easy to style. I wash my hair and scrunch either a mousse or a light gel in it and it only takes about 20 minutes to airdry. I don't know if I ever want to have long hair again, seeing how easy short hair is to care for. The only thing I have to make sure I do is get regular trims and use plenty of protein.

Keep in mind that it's a big change, but if you're ready, go for it. It'll always grow back out.

very cute montaincurl.if you look back at my posts you can see how i too have struggled with the curl and trying to get back to longer hair. the other day i had it cut back into a pixie. i love it.the back of my hair is shorter than yours cause i have 3a ish curl and the short short works better because i dont have any frizz.my hair is very similiar to rohannes pic, but the bangs are a little more textured? i have very thick hair so i thin it alot to lay flat. i dont wear it with curls just straight . my hair curls past my ears and its to short.
my question is do you worry what people say to you having short hair. i always had long hair and worry that people who i havent seen in a while will be like" why in the world did you cut your hair"?i get more compliments with this than i ever did with curly long but they never saw me with longer hair.im just curious if you worry about the mentallity that women should have long hair. i do and wish i didnt.
I think some people are rigid in their opinion that women should have long hair, but honestly I don't really care that much. It's my hair. I've only gotten good attention because of it.

I want a pixie so badly but when I asked one of my guy friends what he thought of the idea, he told me flat out that it wouldn't be attractive.

I can't seem to find anything to do with my hair. So I want to cut it off and try something new. For about three years I have been asking my hair dresser if she could cut it so that it looks different. She said the only thing she could do was cut it short. She never mentioned a pixie, just a shoulder-length cut.

This makes me wonder why she never brought up a pixie cut...

I don't really care all too much what others will think. I just really want to like my hair again. A pixie cut is very short and it seems like my hair would look quite awkward as it is growing back in. Maybe I should get the pixie and if i want long hair again, grow it out next summer?

I have 3a/3b hair and a round-ish face. Will that go decently with a pixie?

Any thoughts?

i think i have said this before but here it goes again. i never got compliments when my hair was curly. never. i had it down to my butt at one point with 3 a curls. now that i have it cut into a pixie i get compiments every day. so strange. but to be honest mabie it has to do with how i feel about it. i never felt comfortable in my long curly hair. i feel happy with myself now.i think some people are just meant to have short hair. its not "middle age styled" but its kind of messy looking. i wear makeup every day, ... so i guess alot of it may have to do with your perseption of yourself. if that makes any sense.
I'm glad I found this thread today as I am going to get my hair cut later today & though i don't want to go quite as short as a pixie I am thinking more of a short-shag kind of thing, maybe like this A curly pixie cut...?-lisa-rinna.jpg
A curly pixie cut...?-short-6-.jpg

I had a pixie cut a lot of years ago but as I was growing it out I usually straightened so I'm not sure how curly/wavy it will be at this length, I have had my hair long for about 7 years then in March I had it cut in a bob, which has shown me that I don't miss long hair at all! I like my hair this length but I don't think it suits my face too much with the long sides, something shorter will give me a bit of a lift. I have wanted a shorter cut for a long while but kept thinking it was too drastic, having the bob (very short at the back) really helped make my mind up.

Rustina - I love that short cut on you & am hoping for about that amount of curl for myself!

Mountaincurl - yours is so cute too & I don't know whether I'm just looking more but there seems to be a lot more girls getting short hair cuts recently, a year or 2 ago everyone seemed to be keeping long hair.

Want2bcurly - yes a messy look is what I'll be going for, that seems to be what my hair always does whatever the length!

Oh & someone asked me what my SO would think of my short hair, I told them that I had short hair when we met 8 years ago & he seemed to like it then, then when I thought about it I realised that I also had short hair when I met my x-h/b so I must have looked OK! lol

I've had a semi-pixie about 15 years ago and I had a love-hate relationship with it. I don't think I went short enough, really, and I don't think I was prepared to make adjustments to my personal style for it.

Now that I've been cutting for a little while, my feelings about pixies are this: I think curly hair is pretty ideal over all. I think you have to keep in mind that your face will be extremely exposed so, pay attention to things like if your ears stick out or how your profile looks without all that hair around it.

Right now I'm loving Melanie's hair on So You Think You Can Dance and I think she's a good example of a curly pixie. The short hair exaggerates her face shape-- which I love. I also like that she can pull off retro fingerwaves, etc. I love it!

I had a curly pixie cut last November. I loved it and I hated it. It wasn't hard to take care of, but I had to wet it every day. I would have a scary fro when I woke up if I didn't. I'm a college student and I like to shower at night, so I wasn't happy about that. I'm growing it out and it's taking forever. Just know that it's going to be hard to grow out if you want it long again!
I got one, it was SOOOO cute, I loved it

All my friends and teachers loved it, my family on the other hand hated it. So I have to grow it back out.

It was mid back and one day my friend was like do you want a trim? And I was like sure, and next thing I know....

Luckily it turned out good. It's a lot easier to style and manipulate. If you have the face I say go for it
I have a pixie cut. My hair is 3A when it's long, but now that it's a pixie, it's just a little wavy. It's super easy to blow-dry straight or put some curl products in and get it to go wavy. I love it.
