Anybody just strictly use Deva

Does anybody just use strictly Deva products exclusively? I am thinking about what Lorraine says -- that hair is like a child that needs consistency.

I'm headed in that direction. Not really on purpose but it's just happening.
If I like either the no poo or low poo... I'm already using oneC and arc angell. I'm not sure if I will keep using SIF yet. I'm playing around with it still.

P.S. Today I picked up some Aveda hair detoxifier to use once a week. We have hard well water and I feel like I need to get that out once in a while.

Sounds good! I bet you will like either of those Deva cleansing products. I need to give SIF another try as well...I wasn't very successful the first time.

I started out using SIF on dry second day hair and I didn't have any luck. Then I met my new stylist who trains under Lorraine and she said, "NO, you need to use it on wet hair. Preferred, soaking wet hair." Then add the gel after that.
So, I've been doing that but I'm getting terrible second day hair. Not repairable at all. I'm not sure if it's because of this cold, dry air or the SIF or the gel...
I guess I really won't know til the weather warms up OR I start getting decent second day hair again.
I didn't put any SIF in today and I'll see what happens in the morning.
I'm wondering if it might be the beeswax...

Let me know how it comes out tomorrow...you might be on to something. I can hardly EVER get 2nd hair hair. I would love to find a deva trained stylist near me There's a place 15 min away that sells their products, but I don't think anybody is trained...I need to convince them to GET trained.

I don't think consistency necessarily means all products from the same line, just a consistent routine from day to day. Not that you shouldn't use just Deva if it works for you, I just don't think it will be any better on your hair than using other similar-quality products.

That's a great way of thinking of it...I didn't see it like that when I first read it, but you are right.

ETA for Bailey -- I live in OHIO but we are totally GATOR fans and you can only imagine all the crap we are getting right now but I don't care.

Tomorrow, I'm going to try layering a bit of my other gel along with the arc angell and see what happens. This morning I used the no poo Devacare for the first time with a tiny bit of one C and then arc angell. My hair isn't very bouncy -- kind of flat curls. I can still smell the ACV in it tho and that might be what is wrong. I'm going to use the Aveda detoxifier and try to get ALL the ACV out. ACV doesn't work on my hair. It makes it way too soft and then I loose all curl formation.
I feel like I get pretty good hold formation with just arc angell but something is still missing. I'm not getting decent 2nd day hair anymore.
Again, it might be the weather. My last ditch effort is to throw on a bit of my other gel. I got it at Sally's and its called, Salon Care or something like that. It's in a HUGE black bottle.

Make sure you rinse all the no poo out...it seems to be pretty heavy on my hair if I don't as well. I haven't done an ACV rinse in a while.

Yeah, I think I could have rinsed a bit better. It is heavy isn't it!
My hair while diffusing felt a bit heavy and I knew something was not 100% right. That may have been the problem. But I was running late for work and I didn't have time to re-do so I left it as is. I keep running to the bathroom to look at it - LOL...
It's still ok although I can't see the back of it. At least I still have curl. But you can see scalp on top of my head because the curls are a bit heavy and clumped (I have very fine hair).
thanks for the tip. I'll make sure to rinse well next time.

I statrted using DevaCare exclusively, I got so sick of trying to figure all the hair products and turning into a very expensive PJ...I have found my hair gets better and better by just keeping it simple
2c/3a Fine Blonde/Silver
I did for about 2 months. It just didn't work for me. My hair just looked worse and worse. It was too rich I think.
1st, Kurlee...I love your avatar!

Darby, I hear ya, I'm the same way with the whole mirror thing!

I am going to stick with Deva for a bit and see how it goes...today was a GREAT hair day (FINALLY!) I just used One C and some Angell and had the best hair day in weeks...we'll see what tomorrow brings though!

I basically just use deva products. I add some phyto9 when it is dry for softness, but I rely on no poo, one c, angel and sif every other day or one day longer. I have good results and I order from cosmeticmagic.com
Hair type, thin, 3b, past my shoulders always looking for length. Use jessicurl hair cleansing cream, devacurl one c, angel, set it free, Always see a deva trained stylist for cut and Aveda Institute for color.
Well, I came home this evening and re-did my hair again. I wanted to start over so I used the detoxifier shampoo from Aveda and then used oneC. I don't think I get enough hold with arc angell alone. So, I used a tiny amount of my other gel (Salon care) on top of arc angell -- I'm not sure if that's defeating the whole purpose of the deva products tho. If I don't wake up with decent 2nd day hair I'll nix the salon care.

I use to believe that Angell (the original one) was not enough hold for me, but I used it as she describes to her clients and on her bottle. I use to use more but now I just use one small palmful and with my head tilted forward, scrunch the gel in a spring motion (gently, I think this is key for me) and keep scrunching til I feel all my hair has some Angell on it, then I gently tilt back up and sort shake my head a tiny bit to let the curls fall and I have had the best hair days in a year...don't know exactly what I am doing much different but this process seems to work and if I don't touch my hair much, the hold lasted pretty much til the next day; it was just a little messed up where I slept on it.

That's how my stylist did it too. She trains under Lorraine. She put it on soaking wet hair too. But I haven't had much luck doing that but I'll try again
I talked to my stylist the other day since I was near her shop and I told her I couldn't do the clip trick. She said next time she will have me do it and she'll watch and see what I'm doing wrong or what.
I go in on the 29th for a color.

That sounds good Darby...I sure wish there was a Deva trained specialist near me (Ohio/Cinci area)... I am hoping soon -- I would make an appt. right now.

OOH can't wait to hear about the color!

Well, I just went and looked in the mirror and guess what? I have decent second day hair!! The only way I can get it is if I use my salon care gel too. ARG!! I really wanted to not use it but it looks like I'm going to have to. I wonder if it's just a waste to even use arc angell??
I haven't used any of the salon care in over two weeks and in those two weeks, I have NOT been able to have second day hair at all. The ingredients in the salon care are:

water, hydroxyethylcellulose, polyquaternium-4, cetrimonium chloride, fragance, tetrasodium EDTA, citric acid, methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone.

The only ingredient that sticks out is the polyquat-4.... I wonder if that's water soluble??
Does this product look cg friendly?
It's not sticky and when I wash my hands with plain water after using it, it washes right off. I don't need soap. It has a slip feel to it.
I only use a pea sized amount.
Thanks --

I would try an experiment with the SC gel only...heck at least it will save you $$!!

It is CG friendly -- some people say they experience build up from polyquats, but my hair doesn't know the difference in a quat or a protein so far as I can tell.

I know how you feel though...sometimes I think, OK are my good hair days just luck on days I am using expensive stuff, cause I want my hair to look good with just cheaper products if possible. I may try just co washing with suave and using suave gel or something and see if my hair turns out just as good. I think it may have something to do with me clarifying my hair real well so I don't have any build up, making my hair more springy or something...so much analyzing
