CG friendly products, that are also cruelty free and are vegan or organic. help me?

for the last few months my hair has been an absolute MESS. I've tried countless products, varying from dirt-cheap stuff to some expensive ones.
Tigi Catwalk Curl Amplifier (curls rock or curlesque, both worked great) was my HG product, but after 6 months of using it, it just stopped working for me

anyways, my hair has been so dry and nothing is working, so i decided to go CG.
but, i am vegan (for Lent, going back to vegetarian afterwards) and i also ONLY use products that are cruelty free, and i usually try to get stuff that's organic or vegan.

so i was wondering if someone could give me a list of CG friendly, vegan or organic, and CRUELTY FREE products that i can use.
conditioner, rinse out, leave in, styling cream (if that's necessary) and a gel.

at the moment i have Suave Naturals juicy apple & strawberry conditioners, Paul Mitchell "The Conditioner", Eco Styler olive oil gel, and shea moisture smoothie (i cant remember the whole name).
are all of those CG? (just until i get new stuff) - ( i need to replace the Suave stuff cause its not CF)
I'm pretty sure everything you're using now is CG. The only thing I'm not sure about (or familiar with) is the shea moisture smoothie. I don't know if that contains 'cones or not. Maybe someone else will chime in with that, but it looks like you're off to a fabulous start! The only other thing I could mention is that your Paul Mitchell conditioner has a lot of PEG-modified (or water-soluble) 'cones in it, which are totally CG friendly, but some people are against all 'cones, even modified ones.

The only cruelty free, vegan, and organic stuff I can recommend to you would be stuff from CurlMart, NaturallyCurly.com's beauty shop with curly friendly products that range from CO-washes to low poos to conditioners to styling creams (and more!). I have never bought from there myself, but lots of people that belong here do. I believe most, if not all, of the products are cruelty free and organic.

HTH!

My Abba Color Protecting Shampoo is CG and Vegan. I LOVE it. It is a creamy wash. My hair is not dry so I was worried about it being too rich but it is perfect. The bottle is pricey but has lasted me a LONG time!

hm....i'm not sure if i'll keep using the paul mitchell thing..i'll see how it works out.
oh, and i have Kinky Curly Knot Today, so i'm using that with the olive oil gel today.
I'm gonan go on a little products hunt now, hopefully i'll find some good stuff

oh, also, what's your regimen?
Cause i take showers at night, so i've always had to do my hair twice.
should i just leave a bit of my rinse-out in, and add some oil, so i can use whatever leave-in in the morning after wetting my hair again, or do i just buy a completely different leave-in to use at night?
cause if i don't put SOMETHING in it, it'll look like a frizzy, puffy hairball o_o
Aubrey Organics has a great line (I use the honeysuckle rose conditioner), as well as Jessicurl. HTH!

CG Since Sept. 5th, 2009!!!

With the help of StruttsWife's E-book:
Normal Porosity, Fine Texture (who would've thunk!), normal elasticity, and medium density.

PM me if you have suggestions for my hair (i.e. product, etc.), help would be very much appreciated!
Check out dermorganics line. Not sure its cg since I dont use strictly cg products. I love this line of products. One product lead to another product until I got all of them.

I thought I was protein sensitive but I think I just had to find the right protein. I use the mask every other day. I take one sqiurt and use it like a leave in and just rinse in the morning before styling my hair for the day.

I buy mine from ebay but you can get it in salons as well.
Nature's Gate shampoos and cond, are cruelty free and vegan, you might also look at Yes To Carotts, cucumbers and Tomatoes they are all cruelty free and I think vegan too. I love Sonoma soap company products and they are also cruelty free and vegan. HTH!

thanks! i think i'll try Aubrey Organics or maybe one of the "yes to" things, whichever i find first :P

i feel like i'm the only person in the world that DOESN'T like KC knot today O.o it just .. doesn't do anything for my hair, so i'm not going to try KCCC.

today i used KCKN with my olive oil gel and some olive oil. the results are ehh. nothing to brag about
i'll try it tmrw with the shea moisture smoothie...

have any recommendations for some good gels? i was thinking of trying fruit of the earth aloe vera gel.

sorry my replies are always so long. i talk too much ._.
If you have a Whole Foods or similar store near you, you may want to check out their offerings. I think they have a lot of products that meet your criteria. Beauty Without Cruelty is not offered in CurlMart, but they are very reasonably priced at vitacost.com. The leave-in has been HG for me for years. I've used their Moisture Plus conditioner also -- it was just OK for me.

Just so you know, Suave is not cruelty-free I believe, because it's made by unilever.

it's hard finding good products that are cg AND cruelty free
I know. It's difficult with drugstore brands. Luckily I can use vo5. You've already gotten a lot of good suggestions Oh and I think all the LA looks gels are CF.

really? that's good. I think i might have to forget about CF for my hair products :/
i might get the LA looks gel, or make my own flax seed gel. i'm seriously tired of bad hair days. /:

Lots of people like their Tea Tree Triple Treat to CO-wash with.

Oh, I also saw you mention in a later post that you'd like to start making FSG. Go for it! That's a perfect example of something so cruelty free and so organic, that you can make it at home! It sounds like it would be perfect for you, as long as you don't like a bunch of hold. FSG doesn't have that much hold on its own, but you can experiment with different additives, too. There's a HUGE thread on FSG -- how to make it, what to add, how to use it, etc. It would probably help you out. Here's the link:

No-fail flax seed gel - I finally did it...TWICE!

Have fun!

Maybe the Giovanni one..(Gosh, i am such a product junkie, i want to try everything! lol)

thank you for the link for the flax seed gel!! that is just what i needed! i'm going to try to buy some flax seeds & essential oils this week, hopefully i'll be able to make some this weekend
Don't know if someone has already mentioned this as I didn't have time to read the whole thread, but I know in Canada where I live, there is a brand called "Live Clean" which is silicone, paraben, sulfate, and all that other bad stuff free, as well as vegan and organic. It is made from natural and plant based ingredients. They sell it in Wal Mart, and I'm not sure where else as I always pick it up from there.

Welcome to Live Clean
unfortunaly, they don't sell that stuff anywhere near me booo. but i checked the website and it all looks great :0
That's too bad...oh, well. -shrugs- I hope you have better luck!
so, i was FINALLY able to get hair products today!
i got-
Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Treat cond. for co-washes
Nature's Gate cond. (pomegranate something..) and Yes to Cucumbers cond. for daily rinse outs (i like to alternate em so my hair doesn't get an overload)(plus, i use some as a leave-in at night)

Giovanni Direct Leave In
Jane Carter Solution revitalizing leave in conditioner (this will be for second day hair, or to refresh my curls mid day)
Kinky Crly spiral spritz (um..i actually don't know why i got this one lol i wanted a serum and it said something about being a serum, so i got it)
Herbal Essences Set Me Up Gel
Fantasia IC styling gel with sparkle lites ( i think that's what it says)
Shea Moisture Deep Treatment Masque (for DT's, maybe as a leave in sometimes)
and
Shea Moisture shampoo (in case i need to shampoo one day..)

now, i got the HE gel because i know a lot of curly girls like it, but it's just to use till i find something better because they test on animals.
the fantasia gel ISN'T CG friendly (as far as i know) but i got it because it's animal friendly & lots of curly girls also like it.

i actually wanted a cream instead of a gel, but i guess i'll find one when it's winter time again..
so anyways, yeah. i'm really excited to try all of it out gosh, i dont know what combination to try first lol
