You like the Cucs better because it doesn't have protein? My hair doesn't like much protein at all, and I haven't had a problem withe the Carrots. I don't think it has any protein in there! Maybe you picked up the old formula and that had some protein in it?

I know the Yes to Cukes doesn't have protein, can't speak for the Carrots!

I THINK wheat germ oil is a protein, well it acts like one in my hair. I can use Cucs as a leave-in, but can't with Carrots. Maybe my hair is just overly sensitive lol.

Ha ha, okay! I didn't know that was a protein. Maybe one of our protein experts will chime in here! I guess I thought because it was an oil it wouldn't be a protein...not necessarily true!

My hair is normal porosity, normal elasticity, and coarse. I decided to stop using the yes to conditioners because of the dead sea water. My hair gets very dry from any salts.
Any one else experience problems with the dead sea water?

Maybe that's the answer I have been looking for! I seem to always get a little halo frizz/fly aways after using all of the Yes to cond. and have never known why until you mentioned this. I also get a little frizz with the spiral solutions curl enhancing jelly and it has dead sea salt as well! Thank you for the tip and answering what I've been trying to figure out for a while. I keep trying to get it to work and kept wondering why it didn't since it has all those great natural oils in it but the dead sea salts must be counteracting those and act too drying on my hair as well.

I have so few products which I can use on my hair now, but I feel like I am really getting to know what my hair needs.
Jessicurl's Oil Blend For Soft Hair is my new discovery which has really helped to moisturize my drier areas! I had a sample and finally decided to give it a try. I like it so much that I ordered 2 bottles of it - I don't like to run out of product.

That's funny you mention Jessicurl since I emailed Jess and asked if she had any plans of making a Mag. Sulfate free curl product with her new changes she's making and I just heard from her today and she said she doesn't at this time but will keep it in mind since most curlies love Mag. Sulf. except for a few like me that it makes frizzy.

Hmmm. I don't think my hair feels dry after using the YTC. And I have super dry hair that literally cannot go without oils and butters and rich LIs and ROs! I do notice that I seem to need more of it to keep my hair moisturized, though, but I thought that was just because it was lighter. But, I am recently using my Tresemme conditioner, and I noticed that my hair felt a lot softer and more moisturized after I used it -- more so than with the YTC. Maybe it's the Dead Sea Water and not the fact that it's a "lighter" conditioner that's affecting my hair as well! Thanks for pointing that out! I noticed it, too, but didn't stop to think about it.

My hair actually feels very moisturized with it as well...It's just the halo of frizz that bugs me! I went back to my Sonoma Soap Company first crush cond. and am almost convinced it's the only one that works perfect for me but hard to find!

Ha! I actually notice less frizz when I use it. Maybe it's all the oils. And maybe some people react differently to salts? I don't know -- I've never really used them! I hate the stuff that's so awesome but hard to get/expensive. I almost hate trying samples of the really expensive stuff because I know that if I like it, I'll want to buy it!!

Same with me that my hair feels moisturized with the Yes to Cukes (I did prefer this one to the Carrots) but just still battled frizz and dryness. Maybe, I just needed some oils to really get my hair in shape. I may try the Yes To Cukes again once I get my hair in better shape. It is looking a lot better with the oil blend.

You've been getting into oils lately, Laurie? I just tried coconut oil recently, and I am a total coconut-convert! I love doing pre-washes with it, and lately my hair refuses to curl right if I DON'T do a pre-wash! Ha! I've been using my Tresemme lately, so I can't give an updated comment about the salts causing dryness, but I will use it next time I wash my hair and see what happens and report back! Hopefully this time I'll really pay attention to how it really feels.

WavynWild - I am a coconut oil convert too! I am combining it in my leave in (JCWDT) following with KCCC then FSG.
What a difference the coconut oil has made in my hair. I just don't know why it took me so long to give it a try.
I have also gone back to VO5 herbal escapes (strengthening formula) as my co-wash and rinse out. I am using Yes to Cukes to shave legs these days. It just dries my hair out too much.
Of course the CJDFCC is my absolute favorite lowpoo.
If I had to select 5 products to join me on a deserted island they would be:
CJDFCC
JCWDT
Coconut Oil
KCCC
FSG

Ha! I LOOOVE coconut oil. I just bought some Shea Moisture products (the Smoothie and the Moisture Retention shampoo), and they seem to have lots of oils and stuff in them, including my beloved coconut oil! They are like HG status already. And I've only used them twice! LOL. I used coconut oil over my gel once because my hair felt REALLY dry, and my hair came out amazing that day. I was stupid enough to never experiment with it again for some reason. I think I didn't because my hair never felt that dry again while applying gel.
Ah, the great repurposement for "IWWW" conditioners -- shaving cream! Ha ha! I actually like using up my VO5 that way sometimes.
I've always wanted to try Daily Fix, but the price tag drove me away. That, and I can't use anything with any kind of fragrance in it (I'm still unsure about what natural "extracts" I can and cannot use).
Do you add anything to your FSG? I started using cornstarch as a thickener, and I LOOVE it!!! It adds lots more hold and improves the texture a LOT! I also add honey and EOs, because the smell of raw FSG makes me want to hurl for some reason.

Bumping this thread back up!
I finally broke down and bought this as I wanted another protein free (although there seems to be some debate about that!) conditioner that isn't super expensive.
I just used it tonight after working out which means I didn't add any stylers and squeezed out all the water after my shower. It initially felt like it wasn't really moisturizing as I applied it in the shower but felt better after rinsed and now that it's nearly dry.
I'll try it again tomorrow with my normal styling routine!

YAY, Asianrunner!!! I'm too happy that you bought it and ecstatic that you tried it already!! Sounds like you liked it! So, did you try it again today? You can't just leave us hanging like this! Better than the Cukes? Worse? Do tell!
Oh, and I have a strange question -- do the other varieties of the Yes To conditioners have similar scents? I love the way the Carrots one smells, even though, to me, it smells almost like baby wipes! But it's addicting!
And it's funny that this thread should come up right as I ran outta my YTC conditioner that I had been using ALL the time recently! Now I'm back on Tresemme and feeling the difference in my hair (I think the Tresemme is a little TOO moisturizing for my recently OC'ed-like hair), but I was LOVING YTC. Gotta use up my conditioner flakes from SoapCrafters, though, after the Tresemme is all gone, and then I guess I'm gonna get a protein condish. Yay. NOT! I will miss you, YTC...

Haha I actually dislike the scent because it smells like baby powder to me!! I much prefer the Yes to Cukes! It's like a fruity scent??
I'm on the fence about this product. I find it less moisturizing than Yes to Cukes so I have to use more than I normally would. Plus I was super itchy last night and a little this morning after using it so I'm hoping that's not the reason.
I'll give it a few more gos and if it's the cause of my itchies, off to the swap board it goes!
On the positive side, I did get pretty great hair today.

LOL! I'll have to sniff the Cukes condish next time I go to Target and compare! I find the Carrots scent so addicting for some reason! When I first smelled it, I was a little grossed out, but it's almost like I crave the smell from time to time now. Ha ha!
Yay for good hair! Let's hope the itchies don't come back! I HATE when something awesome makes me itch -- biggest pet peeve of mine!

Yeah there are very few products that I think actually make me feel itchy. Curl Keeper is one, not sure if CCCC lite is one either...
