bike helmet solutions
I've read a few great threads with ideas about how to possibly save curls during bike rides, but I haven't read a lot where people shared their tried-and-true solutions. As a possible bike commuter to a fairly conservative office, I'd like to know: has anyone had a succesful, day-to-day way to wear curls after a bike ride?
(Btw, I noticed a very cute curly/wavy head working at one library I frequented one summer in Boston, and I noticed one day that she was a bike commuter, but I never got up the courage to ask her how she did it . . . darnit.)

I no longer have a bike because I'm at college. but when I'm exercising and want to preserve my curls I like to put them in two loose braided pigtails. This doesn't keep my curls always, but still gives them a nice looser curl when I take them out. It helps to refresh my curls when I take them out of the braids with some conditioner and water if it's frizzy, or a little pomade. Oh and it held to use French braids and not just plain ones.

My go-to curl-preserving tried-and-true method when I ride my bike is really simple. I plop INTO my helmet. It sounds really strange, but it really works. I just accordion my hair into my helmet, and it stays like that for the entire bike ride. The helmet is a little tighter with the extra room taken up in there, but it's so worth it. My curls stay pretty much perfectly preserved while they are in there, because they are totally shielded and held in their natural position. I never have to deal with a flat top and splayed out ends again!
HTH! And if you do try it, tell me what you think.

I have a problem that my bike helmet gets caught on my hair. So what I do is I tie a scarf loosely on my hair under the helmet. It really works!

I do the plopping hair into the helmet and this works for me. (I commute every day on my bike).
