Shea Moisture..how has this product worked for you?

Just went to target and left with my first shea moisture products after hearing such great reviews on it!

I bought the shea moisture deep treatment masque, the shea moisture curl and style milk and the shea moisture hold and shine moisture mist.

Any comments on how these products have worked on your curls or on how you used these products (i.e. twistouts, wash and go's, etc....)?

That sounds like Shea overload. I would ditch the shine spray. Use a virgin coconut oil spray cause shine sprays tend to have -CONES

Make sure you have something that focuses on the oils you need and not just the moisturizing butters.

Actually shea moisture products are loaded with oils, including coconut oil and from what i know and from looking at the ingredients list it doesn't include cones :-)

That's different. I'll have to look into that cause typically manufacturers have product lines that focus on moisture and separate products that focus on oils.

I wonder what's in that shine spray if it's not dimethicone but still leaves a shine?

It might be a small amount of cocos coconut oil that leaves a shine.

I bet you can just use water if you don't want to add any additional product in your hair.

Or just use a little virgin coconut oil and that way you don't add all the other chemicals that's in the spray.

Ok I'll have to try some virgin cocunut oil and see how that works for me. The only kind I've used is evoo and tea tree oil. I'm still learning so thanks for the tips!..and if that shine spray isn't right I'll definitely be taking it back!

My curls and I heart Shea Moisture brand. I use the masques with my DT's, the shine mist on 2nd day or when extra moisture is needed (and the shine does come from the coconut oil, which my hair loves to drink) and the curl enhancing smoothie regularly. I can't say enough great things about these CG products.

I've used the DT masque two different ways. The first time I used as a DT (left on for half hour, then rinsed) and didn't really see or feel a difference. Second time I used it with my twist out and my hair was very soft and defined. I'll use it like that from now on

ETA my pic is actually 3rd day hair from using the DT masque with my twist out.

As far as I know the SM line does not have cones or fates. It's CG-friendly

For those of you who didn't feel the masque did anything for them, what DT do you use?

I detested the masque. It stank (yes, I said it) and it didn't do anything for my hair. No slip no moisture nothing. I like Jessicurl WDT, GVP Conditioning Balm and I'm trying to figure out if I like the Curl Junkie Curl Rehab because it can over moisturize.

Has any of you tried the yucca part of the line? I have the coconut hibiscus shampoo, the shea conditioner, and the shea restorative elixer (its pretty good, soothed itching but slighlty strong in smell if u use too much) havent used the shamp or condish yet because I have micros in now, but I've heard the yucca line is good for thickening hair, even if its already thick, do you guys know anything about that?

Luv'd my permed hair I just didnt take care of it.
LUVVV my natural hair!!!
I love the deep treatment masque. I use it as a leave in and my 4b hair loves it. The smell is like the frankincense and myrrh lotion they have and I love it. I have also used the curl enhancing smoothie, mainly for twists outs and for protein, and my hair responds well to it.
I like the black soap shampoo and the black soap anti-itch spray...although the shampoo can get a tad drying at times....I guess you can combat that with applying oil before you shampoo

I'm in love with Shea Moisture. It took time for my hair to adjust but now that it's pretty much all I use other than cowashing with Trader Joe's N&S and sealing with castor oil. My hair has never looked better or more moisturized. I even like the shampoo and I had given up on shampoos.

As for the Yucca line, I have the milk and it's the truth. I have coconut hibiscus milk too but yucca is more moisturizing for me.
