Default weird hair comment from husband...

My husband asked me today if I used a curling iron! He said my hair looked "especially curly, and what was I doing to it?"

I wish he'd say he likes it, but oh, well-I like it!

Men do not know how to compliment women on hair I'm sure he was implying that he liked it, but wanted to know why it looked different.

the other day i was feeling weird about my hair. To me it looked blah and kind of producty looking. I asked hubby what he thought and he wasn't saying anything. Kind of like the deer in the headlights type of look.
I said, "come on, just tell me the truth." He then said, "well, it looks kind of flat and not how it usually looks." I said, "so it looks bad?' And he said, "NO, it doesn't look bad, just different." MEN!!!
I then said, "which way do you like it better?" He took a long time to answer but he finally said, "the other way." I thanked him for being honest and my head went back into the sink!

I asked my husband if he liked my hair this way. He said hestitatingly 'yes" but then asked why I don't straighten it anymore I only wore my hair straight for about three months (and not every day) and we've know each other since 1989! I told him it was damaging to my hair, and I like it curly. I also pointed out for the umpteenth time that many of the women celebrities he likes have curly hair....Minnie Driver, Catherine Zeta Jones, etc...

Sigh..

LOL Thank God there's more to us than our hair.

But I understand your sensitivity. If I'm truthful, I have been sensitive too when it comes to curly acceptance of my hair, by others. Now I know longer give a fig.

Anyway, I figure there are enough positives about me in general that it really doesn't matter much how much or little my hubby likes my hair. Turns out he's pretty open/opinionated about his views on the subject though. I straightened my hair once and he told me he didn't like it and wanted the curls back. But he's also said he likes wavy hair the best. I too think waves are pretty (though I definitely prefer curls). He is entitled to his own set of likes and dislikes. About anything. Side note: He wants me to dye my hair jet black because it's his favorite hair color. We'll have to see about that.

Hopefully you won't let your guy's opinion of your hair get in the way of enjoying your curls and accepting yourself in your own eyes

I'm sure he meant it as a compliment but the delivery was lacking. I guess I think a little different because whether someone's curls are natural or done in other ways (heat or chemical) I just give the compliment and don't ask what they do. Had he complimented you first and then asked it would have sounded much better.

haha i think so too that it was a compliment nothing to do with hair: though i got a new lipstick the other day. and tried it out today, i got bright red curly hair, (my man loves my hair!) and i asked him what he thought of the lipstick, (as a red head i gotta becareful of what kinda reds i wear) and he said its a bit too red, (it was cherry red) and i thought it looked really bad so i gave it away.
sory nothing to do with hair!

I would say that the fact he used "specially" instead of another word means he mention it in a positive way.

hahahha my bf is the SAME way... he says things like "oh my look at you" or "look at your hair how curly!" always very vague comments and then when I press for more he clams up... so annoying.

Exactly my point, I compliment women semi-frequently on their hair (with curls especally) but when pressed for "how so" answers I'll definitey freeze. However, I find they are thrilled to say it looks "beautiful, lovely, gorgeous or I really like your hair, etc."
