I hate this

So I got my hair dyed and the stylist straightened it. She said she wanted to try out her new flat iron and I am always up for expirmentation. So after getting my hair blown out I go home and my family and friends go on endlessly about how much better I look with straight hair.
Even worse, my boyfriend has non stop talked about how hot I looked with straight hair. I am so hurt right now.
Sorry I just needed to rant.

OMG, I know exactly how you feel! That is why I never straighten my hair anymore. I get all the "ohhh you should wear it straight everyday" and "oh it looks fabulous" as if I was a celebrity. I did put it into perspective though - first of all, the comments are triggered because they are not used to seeing you that way. Change almost always receives a reaction. Even my husband says how much he loves it, but does tell me that he likes it curly better. My brother told me that straight hair does not "look like me" or look like it belongs. I think your family just is not used to it. Do not worry, embrace your curls & if anyone says that you should wear it straight just reply "no thanks!"

Thank you, :D that makes me feel better!

No problem :) Another good thing to say (besides "no thanks") next time they comment that you should wear it straight say "oh, thank you, you are offering to come spend an hour blow drying it straight for me every morning? That is so nice of you, but frankly I like my curly hair & do not wish to inflict unnecessary damage to it".

I honestly wouldn't mind taking the time out to straighten my hair- the damage that it does to it is why I started wearing my natural hair more. My friends do that whenever my hair changes though. If I've been wearing it straight for awhile they tell me how pretty my natural hair is, but if I straighten it to go out then they compliment me on that look. It's fun to change it up every once in awhile but I can see how you would feel like they don't like your hair curly when they make those kind of comments!

I'm a freak about damaging my hair. I wouldn't have allowed her to straighten if I didn't just get a trim.

the same thing happened to me when i let my stylist straighten mine the last time i got a trim. i got a lot of comments from people - most saying they didn't recognize me and a lot saying that i looked great. my bf liked it a lot too - almost too much, to the point that i was worried that he preferred this look over my natural one. but after seeing it for a few days, and then when i wet it down again, he admitted that it was just the change that was fun and refreshing, and that my curls are more 'me.'

it's just the change people are reacting too, don't worry. guys are very visual, too - so a change in the way you look is kind of exciting them.
