Combining Shea Moisture Products

I've been using the Raw Shea Butter Moisture Retention Shampoo and loving it! Tangles seem to just fall out, and it almost feels like I don't need a rinse out after (I've been using one, anyway). PJ that I've been lately, I want to try more of the line. My question is, do any of you use the Raw Shea Restorative Conditioner as a RO, then the Coconut Hibiscus Milk as a LI, followed by the smoothie? I have read that people use the milk and smoothie combo with great results, but I'm wondering if those plus the conditioner is overkill. Any feedback is appreciated!

Coconut oil = magic!
I find the milk to be quite moisturizing on it's own for me! I haven't used the smoothie, and only use the milk on 2nd day hair instead of my regular condish/LI.
My hair is finer than yours, though!

Another coconut oil lover! I don't know how I ever lived without it.

I use the Curl & Style Milk and the Curl Smoothie.. BUT I do not use them at the same time. To me that would be just overkill for my hair. I used to loathe the smell and wouldn't use the line. But I found out that for my hair first of all I don't need a lot of the products so I was using way to much to begin with and that is why I thought it didn't work for my hair and smelled too heavy.

I found that if I use the products without globbing it on..only enough to lightly coat..the smell is pretty non-existent for me once my hair dries. I have a VERY sensitive nose and I get terrible headaches from strong smells.. I can only use very few perfumes for this reason..and I'm telling you if you use the Shea Moisture sparingly the smell will not be heavy.

I do like to use a gel over them because they both make my hair so silky soft I feel like I need hold. So I use Fruit of the Earth Aloe Vera 100% Gel, La Bella Lots of Curls, or IC Fantasia with Sparkle-ites over it.

My favorite combo is the Curl Smoothie and the Fruit of the Earth Gel. Smoothie first, then gel over it. And I like the Style Milk with the La Bella gel the best. But it works good with the Fruit of the Earth gel as well. When my hair is almost dry.. I love to spray on a bit of the Hold & Shine Mist.

Frankly, I'm thrilled I gave this line another try. I already had my staples but adding this line to my staples and using it THE RIGHT WAY put my hair over the top for fabulousness!

I usually have to wear the Coconut & Hibisicus Curl & Style Milk on top of KBB Sweet Ambrosia. When I was transitioning back in Feb before I relaxed in April I found the moisture didn't last long for me with the Shea Moistiure style milk. The hair smoothie was sticky in my hair.
Products I'm currently :
  • Karen's Body Beautiful Sweet Ambrosia (Vanilla Latte scent)
  • Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Curl & Style Milk
  • Certified Organic Coconut Oil
  • Karen's Body Beautiful Heavenly Jojoba Oil
Staple Deep Conditioners: Giovanni Direct Leave-in and Karen's Body Beautiful Luscious Locks Hair Mask

Thanks, ladies! Between Marah Mizrahi and hippiedoll, I now know I'd better start out using the smoothie sparingly and see how it goes. Very helpful, since there are certain products I really need to glob on (like Eco Styler).

MM, I'm also glad you mentioned using FOTE AVG over it. I love that stuff! I add it to practically everything I mix up, and I've been meaning to try it in my hair straight up. This will give me the perfect opportunity.

The Shine & Hold spray is fantastic to SOTC, too. And tame flyways and frizz during the day.
And yes, coconut is oil is AWESOME! I don't know what I did with out it either!
