Unhappy Prom advice!!!!

So guys...I have pretty curly hair. I believe it was defined as 3b. For prom I want to do a half up do sort of thing and I went to this new hair salon. They offered to do exactly what I want but they want to use heat. Otherwise they refuse to do it. They claim that it will not damage my hair. I have never used any sort of heat on my hair ever before. Should I trust them. Will this one prom hair do possibly ruin my hair forever? Should I just try and do it at home What are you opinions? What has been your experience?

Ultimately I want to know if it will damage my hair if she just uses like a curling iron and stuff for this one event.

Well if you don't normally don't use heat then One time won't hurt. The night before you get it done you can do a protein treatment and make sure they use a heat protectant. I your reaallly worried about it damaging ur hair then just do it yourself. HTH!

Okay well thanks, I just wasn't sure because m mom thinks it will completely change my texture because she says the hair stylist doesn't care... Also, if I were to do it myself what would you suggest? Hair rollers?

How do you want your hair exactly? Could you post a picture? I'm assuming you mean you have tight 3b curls but want bigger/looser curls?

What exactly are they going to do to your hair? Use heat rollers to make a looser curl pattern or define the ringlets? Also I don't understand what you mean when they say they refuse to do it!?! What? Nowhere I have been will 'refuse' to put your hair up in a style just because you don't want them to use any heat on it. Thats ridiculous. I'd find another hairdressers just for that sort of attitude.

If you're really worried about heat, you could always get the Curlformers and do it at home.
I haven't tried them yet but I watched a video on them this morning and they look pretty fool proof!

And I agree with kat180.. I wouldn't ever go back to that hairdresser if they "refuse" to do your hair without heat. That's just ridiculous.

Good luck!
