I think I'm allergic to CIAB

And I just bought some too. I got a sample from Kathymack and it was the product answer I was looking for. Soft, full, airy, and shiny curls, easy to distribute, no crunch. The smell was kind of eh, but it didn't linger. I did a few patch tests to check for sensitivities but nothing came of them. I immediately ordered a full sized bottle.

For the last 3 days I have been itchy, not just in the scalp but all over. Could be general allergies but who knows. The itch was bugging me so much that I washed my hair this evening and styled it with KCCC, my staple for the last 2 years. The itch has improved somewhat, but is still there to some degree. We'll see if I get scalp itching overnight.

Before I ordered I was really cautious and even cancelled an order of CIAB because I read other accounts of people having allergy issues with it. I still don't know if that's what has been causing the itch, but if it is there's going to be 2 full bottles up on the swap board. Bummer.
Have several allergies and sensitivities.

I'm allergic to a lot of products (CK, Shea M LI, all things Bioterra.)

I tried to find a comment that FrizzBgone made about avoiding "sensitivities/allergies." I thought it was in the thread about the new Queen Helene Royal Curls Curl Creme--but couldn't find it. She's found that by rotating products, she doesn't have as many issues. I think that's true for me, too.

I find that products work better, for me, if I rotate them. Otherwise my hair satiates and the product stops working. Why don't you "back off" the CIAB??? Don't use it for a while to give your body a break. Try it again, but only let yourself use it every so often. That way, you may be able to keep the sensitivities at bay.

My other thought is that this is the "height" of Spring allergy season where I live. Don't know if that's the case in the rest of the country. Our pollen counts are really high everyday, unless it rains. My skin has always been really sensitive/allergic. Compound that with roseaca--and it my face can really "burn" this time of the year. So, my other thought is to put it away until the worst of allergy season is over.

Thanks Kathymack.

Well, today I still woke up itching, and I didn't have any CIAB on. I have allergies to all kinds of things--nuts, tropical fruits (but not citrus fruits like oranges), mild latex allergy, plus all the usual trees and weeds and on particular type of common mold--and its been raining a lot here which causes mold increases, so now I think it might just be my seasonal issues, especially since mold hits my skin the hardest. So today I styled with CIAB again. Itching does not seem to increase so thats good.

I dunno, I'm kind of a minimalist when it comes to my hair, so I want to use one styler and don't want to rotate because I like to travel and don't want to take multiple stylers with me. I'm going to give CIAB another week and see if the itch gets worse. I patch tested on three areas of my body (my neck, my upper back and my forearm) and nothing...no redness or localized itching. It doesn't make my hands itch while I'm scrunching it in either. It really works better for me that anything else I've tried except for maybe Biolage Gelee which I knew I was allergic to really quickly.

I hate having allergies, it makes things so frustrating, and it makes me feel like I'm neurotic or something.
