No, layers are a lifesaver for curly hair!  It also depends on the type of curl you have, and how much of a spring factor you have, like how much your hair shrinks from when it's wet to when it's fully dried. Either way, though, they tend to make curly hair look better and fuller, so they're definitely a good way to go. Look up salons in your area and find ones with good reviews on this website, since generally the people on here know what salons are the best for curly hair. Good luck!
