not using styling products.

Hello curlies!

Have you ever had one of those days where you just could not be bothered to do your hair, and so you left it to air dry without any styling products put into it?

Well yesterday was one of those days for me. I was completely surprised that the results were not completely horrible. Actually, I liked my hair. It was soft, and I believe I even had less frizz than normal.

So I've decided to do the same thing today and hopefully it will turn out.

3 a/b. Dark-medium brown.
Natural products: eggs, lemon juice, honey, aloe vera gel. Cone free stylers.
Suave and VO5!!!
I have tried that before -- and it doesn't turn out too pretty. A poofy, frizzy mess with minimal wave definition is what I like to call my hair without product and a diffuser. It really is scary. I'm so glad it worked out for you, though. I would like to be able to do this, but it never works. No styling products and airdrying would be so easy! But, I will forever love my gels -- and my diffuser.
Type 2c/3a with lots of hair and a super sensitive scalp! Med/slightly coarse texture, low porosity and elasticity.

I like to do "naked hair" every once in awhile, just to see what kind of condition it's in without products. But I only do it on a day when I'm staying home and know no one will see me. It's getting better, but not yet to the point where I can leave the house like that!

Sulfate/non-water-soluble silicone free since 8/16/10

Med-coarse, normal porosity, low elasticity

I stopped using products about 2 months ago and I noticed my hair is either the exact same or better than when I was using products lol!

It's a huge money saver too

The only time I've gone with naked hair is when I'm going for a haircut. They cut it dry and without product, and the last time my naked hair wasnt half as scary as I anticipated. Ok, I used a TINY bit of leave in, but no gels, creams, etc.
Ive recently cut back on my products. I've been getting away with just FSG and a little CIAB to SOTC, which is shocking to me since I always thought I needed a ton of hold.

It all started on a lazy day when I didnt have to go anywhere. I used more FSG (I mixed about 1/4 tsb honey into my 3.5 oz FSG recipe) then I ever had previously, sort of smoothed it on and 'raked' it through. Normally raking anything in breaks up my waves in to strings, but I tried to work with the clumps that had already formed by not breaking them up at all. I scrunched side to side, upside down then side to side again just for good measure. Plopped for maybe 30 mins and diffused. 80-90% of the way dry, I SOTC with a little CIAB and continue diffusing. I got enough hold from the FSG, and the CIAB helps with the frizzies. If it continues working so well, I might end up selling some other products on the swap board. The real test will be when the heat and humidity set in.

Some days I like to just rake a little leave in and some CIAB through the hair and towel dry it with a CLU towel. My waves are barely wavy when I do that but it helps a bit with the natural poof!
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

That's every day for me. xP

Every time I wash my hair (always at night), I let it air dry until it's 50% dry and then put it in a low ponytail and sleep. xD
I don't have any curly styling products because I usually straighten my hair. But now, I'm trying to style it.

Without products, my hair is soft and a little frizzy. XD Wavy~ish. It's really not that bad.

It gets more frizzy in the humid/hot weather.
But in the cold weather, it lays flat, lols.
Yes. Its not pretty lol. And actually begins to irritate the hell out of me by midday.

I always end up regretting it.
yea i tried it and i end up regretting it too. my hair is too tight and not long enough to try that. length does make a difference.
Thick 3C, some 4a, normal porosity, medium-fine texture and medium elasticity.

cleansers- CJ Daily Fix, Deva No Poo
conditioners-Curl Rehab, Natures Gate Asian Pear and Red Currant.
stylers-Bioterra gel
leave-ins-Natures Gate Lavender and Aloe condish

Yes, though I always need a leave-in conditioner. I've never been able to repeat it and have success though. It's one of those random things, when it works out.
I rarely do the no-product thing. I get really bad halo frizz even if I am putting it in an updo for the day. Need at least some LI and gel to keep it cooperating with the updo.
