Omg help me ladies
Okay so I can't seem to get my curls to curl...it's really driving me crazy! I cut my hair about a month ago to get rid of all the dead ends... And my hair seems to be exactly the was it use to before. I have flat hair on top, hair doesn't curl to the root, have lot of place that won't curl, hair is dry. I have been using organix brand of shampoo and conditioner. My hair loves it but it's still not doing the trick. I can't find a good leave in conditioner. I don't like gels or products like that bc my hair always fill crunchy and heavy no matter what kind I use or how little I use. I am using very little l.a sports gel as of right now. Ladies pppllllleeeaaaassssseeee help me I Want my beautiful curls! I'm on a student budget and I can't afford to keep buying different products that my hair hates. Please help!

I would double-check the Organix products first. I'm not 100% sure they are CG. I had a lot of trouble styling my hair when I first cut it too so I understand what you're going through!! I found that the IceQueen Method, some plopping (no more than 10 minutes) and clipping helps me. I like to use Kinky Curly Knot Today as both a rinse out and leave-in but some people don't find it hydrating enough. I really love it though but my hair is pretty well hydrated. Have you tried FSG or Styling Mudd yet?? They're pretty awesome and you can SOTC pretty easily with them. Hope this helps a little!!!

Do you know your properties? Do you PT or DT? Understanding your hair's properties will help steer you in the right direction so that you choose the correct product ingredients for your hair. Fine hair, for example, needs lots of proteins and will benefit from frequent PTs. Coarser hair needs very little to no protein, but lots and lots of moisture and DTs. You could be using all the wrong things for your hair if your ingredients don't match up with your hair's texture and porosity.
If you haven't already, read this page:
Live Curly Live Free - Curly Hair Basics
Hair properties are explained here and there are self-tests you can do to determine yours. If you can't figure it out on your own, you can send in hair samples for a very reasonable price (less than $20) and they will figure out your properties for you.
I feel for you - I was the same way when I first went CG, trying every product I could get my hands on and never really being happy with any of them because I didn't understand what my hair needed. Since finding out my properties, I now know to stay away from protein and to give my hair frequent DT's - and it has responded by curling better and frizzing less.
HTH!

I don't know the Organix products, but if these ladies are right and they have cones, you need to do a sulfate wash and start over with CG products. If you're medium-coarse, you need list of moisture and little protein. Some coarse curlies can use LALSG, but the proteins in it leave me super crispy so I use non-protein gels. If you've never DT'd, start! I do them weekly and my hair is very happy.
Good luck!

When I used organix conditioners pre-CG, my hair looked awful. Then I found out they had cones.
As for a leave-in conditioner, I would just use a bit of your rinse-out conditioner. Some reasonably-prices rinse-out conditioners include Tresemme Naturals and Renpure organics. Some people prefer the red Renpure conditioner. You can get these at Walgreens, and possibly Walmart/Target (i'm not sure).
Also, after your hair completely dries with the la looks gel in it, you can scrunch or squeeze your hair gently to break the gel cast and this will leave you with soft frizz-free curls. Herbal Essences makes some good, cheap, protein-free gels also, including Totally Twisted and Set Me Up.

Many of the Organix products have water soluble cones (dimithecone copolyl and anything with a PEG in front of it) so you will want to check the labels to make sure (if you are trying to avoid cones all together, soluble or non soluble, then Organix products probably aren't for you).

I also agree cones may be a large part of the problem, as most of the Organix condish's do (maybe all, I haven't looked at all of them) have cones, and I was sure they weren't water soluble. I like the low poo when I need more cleansing but don't want to use an SLS or ALS poo, but even the low poo is kind of harsh IMO as far as low poo's go.
Also, I think most of us hate being crunchy, but we also understand even hard holding gels can be scrunched when dry to eliminate crunch, and the crunch is nessacary when drying to hold curls on place and to help with frizz. I use ALOT of the LALSG and the crunch scrunches out with no problems at all and feels like I have nothing in it. Of all my gels (I have 7, yes 7 different kinds) it leaves my hair the softest and never feels producty once I have SOTC'd.
Keep testing techniques. Modify them if you need to, I know most of the technique's I use have been modified in some way to give me the results that work best for me, because the original technique just wasn't quite right for me. It takes time and practice to find what works for you.

Also, if you have medium course Jair but the porosity is low you will still need protein, and I can't stress enough how important finding the proper moisture vs protein balance is!
With courser hair, I'd start lighter and go from there to see how well your hair does. (the LALSG has some protien, it could be enough, or it may not)
