In the quest of knowing my curls I've discovered...

I've learned that handling my hair like it's fine silk yields impressive results with regard to length retention.

Things that I have learned:

--Co-washing has made my hair softer than ever.
--MINERAL OIL is AWFUL for my hair (not to mention my skin!)
--My scalp LOVES being massaged with oil (Lisa's Hair Elixir is an HG for me).
--Silicones cause MAJOR build up on my scalp.
--Plopping has made my curls POP!
--My hair loves pixie diffusing.
--My inner product junkie has been reawakened--LOVE Curl Junkie and Jessicurl.

It's like I can't wait to shower again, and try new product combos.
Ooh, me too!

My hair has learned:
-Conditioner is a wonderful thing
-Being too long is a HASSLE but you'll miss it
-It's perfectly OK to condition with the same conditioner that you use to cowash
-Trichotillomania wreaks havoc on the hair
-You don't need to spend a fortune to look great
-Mousse is better than gel for it
-Be thankful for Calgary's dry conditions
-NEVER use your nails on your scalp again: it does not help dandruff at all
-Wet pineapple is the route to gorgeousness
-Take showers at night, because it takes too long in the morning
-Accept tangles (grrr) as a normal part of life
Type:2c/3a botticelli curls with 2b/c at the underlayers and some of the back, very thick and mid-back length, black w/ very few caramel highlights

I kept falling off the cg wagon but finally started properly as of July 2010
I use tresemme naturals condish, liveclean argan oil and argan oil leave-in condish and curl keeper!

It feels so good, though.......

Anyway, I've also learned that it's okay to give up some days; it's going to look like my brother's teenaged shag bar mitzvah picture no matter what I do.

Also, that I can get away with some non-CG products, and it's not the end of the world (and there's always someone willing to take them off my hands if they don't work).

Finally, I can't color my hair myself. It's a disaster, plain and simple, and I've given up. I am striving for peace on this issue.
-My scalp is less oily than I thought! Going CG has really cleared up most of my scalp issues.
-That I'm willing to spend way too much $$ buying hair products!
-My hair can handle cowashing/low pooing/water washing
-Not all products that work for other wavies will work for me
-I must use a curl/wave enhancer as well as gel if I hope to have good waves
-glycerin is only my friend in the spring/summer
Coarse texture, normal-high porosity, normal elasticity (Komaza Care), very weak waves
cleanser: Redken Fresh Curls Shampoo, CJ Daily Fix

rinse out: GVP Conditioning Balm, CJ Repair Me, CJ Smoothing

jellies/creams: CR Curl Maker, KCCC, UFD Curly Magic
gels: CJ CQ, BRHG

I have learned that my hair could look beautiful curly (I never thought that would be the case). Also that my hair hates heat (shock, shock, surprise, surprise).

I also learned a lot about my hair's properties from the hair analysis that I got.
As far as ingredients, other than protein, I haven't really figured out what my hair wants and likes. Mostly I've learned to embrace my hair and that I really love my natural hair.

I'm doing errr, alright. I find that changing my part every now and then helps with the impulse to pull, but I still have a couple bald spots. It's not as bad, but still bad :/
As for my mom, I just don't mention it, though she brings it up every now and then, I just evade the topic. :9

WOW! You sugar scrub your scalp ? I make a sugar scrub for my skin but never even thought of that as something I would do on my head---is it the same thing?
I am still waaaaaayyy too much of a newbie with the whole CG thing to have learned much. I am in the experimental stage and since I am on a severely limited budget it may take me quite awhile before arriving at a CG regimen that works the best for me. With that in mind here are the few things I HAVE learned:

~Wen is way too expensive and doesn't make my hair nice enough to warrant the price.
~When ordering products, whether DIY ingredients (trying to go with all organic, ecocert stuff) or actual product, order the small sizes or get sample sizes where available until I figure out what the best hair diet is for MY hair.
Where do I even start

1.Shampoo with all those chemicals would not fetch Silky hair like shown in commercials(which is what most Indians believe.lSilly!!!)
2. Understand the reality of natural curls and that all my hair needs is moisture, moisture and can there is nothing called as over conditioning on my hair
3.Understand the properties of hair was an eye opener after being a year CG which has made such a huge difference (Low Porosity, normal Elastisity(if I deep condition between co-wash, Coarse texture, very dense-think black hair, past BSL length now)).
4.That I can throw the hot tools out the window and still look good
5. That I tend to look at mirror or a reflection every single chance I get, to smile at the gorgeous curls
6. That I am slowly turning to a PJ
7. That I cant wait for the next co-wash routine so that I can try different combo of products
8.That I have a wonderful better half who understands me and is so patient through my curly journey
9. And finally happy that my son has inherited curly hair from me and that I will help him through every single step of his curly journey

I wish there was a sound recorder in this message box, I would have given a big shout out to all the curliers in this form
3a with some 2a-2c, Medium/Low Porosity
Co-wash:deva no-poo/Vo5 kiwi
Detangle:Suave
Leave-in:Shea Moisture/GVP conditioning Balm/AOHSR

Since long hair- I finger twist in big chunks, which helps till 5th day hair
Gel:LA sports
Plop: Old T-shirt for 15 minutes ,diffuse
