Water turning my hair piss yellow.

I have gross yellow water at my new place, & my landlord told me 2 months ago when I moved in that it would turn clear in a few weeks. I keep complaining to him about it but he just says I "have to wait for the hot water tank to clear out"? I've started showering at my mom's but my white hair's turned a urine yellow color. how can I clean it? it looks disgusting.

My water used to be mustard yellow before we got on county water.
I don't know the answer, but my guess is a shampoo that has cheleating agents. They usually say "hard water" or "swimmer's" on the bottle. These shampoos remove hard water build up and chlorine.
An apple cider vinegar (diluted) rinse or a citric acid rinse may help some with removing build up.
Here's hopping you get water colored water!

Sorry I can't help. It only turned really yellow when my town was flushing the pipes. As soon as I figured out they were doing it that day, I avoided using water. On other days when it wasn't so yellow, I just had cruddy hair, skin, etc.

How annoying!

There are shampoos and rinses out there that have blue/violet pigment in them to counteract the yellow.

Depending on the actual mineral that is being deposited, you may not be able to clarify your hair satisfactorily, so doing a blue rinse/shampoo would be the only option other than using bleach.

Now.. don't go overboard or you may end up with little-old-blue-haired-lady hair...

Good luck and I hope your landlord gets his act together.. what a pain!
