So..moisture helps breakage right?

My hair is thinning around my hairline and I have been CG for about 6 months. I don't pull my hair back in tight ponytails, in fact whenever I do pull it back it's in a low loose ponytail. I had been to the doctor a few years ago, when I was still straightening and had blood tests done to see if there was something internal causing my thinning hair. There was nothing wrong. because my hair was thinner at my hairline I would moisturize less there beause that area would tend to look greasy. For the most part since starting CG my hair doesn't look greasy at all but I know I don't specifically moisturize in that area or DT there. My situation isn't changing, I feel little stubble there so my follicles aren't damaged..right? Am I just keeping the situation going by not being extra moisutizing to that area? Tonight I put some honey and coconut oil there and then did a wash with baking soda and conditioner there. It's not greasy...is this something I should do on a regular basis...what do you think?

Back on Cones,so now my routine is,wash with Deva No-Poo every other day or so. Occasionally use 365 sulfate free, maybe use low sulfate shampoo mixed with conditioner once every two weeks are longer. I condition with Aussie Moist or HEHH. I style with a little GF TN,and finish up with tons of GN Pure Clean Smoothing Cream. No frizz...slippy, happy hair.
I may try to do the coconut oil thing often for that part of my hair but I am afraid of greasies. I can't wash with baking soda and conditioner evertime cause that will be drying too...right? So if you have a part of your hair that is thinner because of breakage how do you moisturize without getting greasy hair...or is that just a given. Do you think if I tried a small amount of coconut oil and then COwashed that part afterwards it would take care of it? What have any of you guys done in this situation?

I wouldnt use baking soda at all unless you have build up. I have heard that happens usually around the 3 month mark, but if you notice any changes in your hair its good to go ahead and clarify to start fresh. Baking soda is very drying as is any clarifying treatment it stripes your hair and its good to follow with a deep treatment. I use coconut oil all the time and just CO wash it out and havent had any problems. I have heard if oil is hard to remove off your hair to put your conditioner on dry hair and that makes getting the oil off easier. I have had breakage and I always use a protein treatment and that helps stop the breakage but not sure if your hair likes protein or not.
I used coconut oil last night and just rinsed with conditioner and my hair isn't greasy today. I'm gonna try that everynight for a while to see if it helps with the breakage. I always had such thick hair and it's just not as thick in the front as it used to be and it drives me nuts

Have you tried a protein treatment or reconstructor on your hair? I had severe breakage from chemical damage and it was the only thing that helped stop the breakage. Are you still using the straightener on your hair? I was just asking because if you are not then maybe the little stubs you feel are new growth. If the breakage is that close to your scalp have you thought about oiling your scalp? Maybe over night before a wash day. I also use conditioner all the way to the roots my hair is so dry I have to have some slip there to stop breakage.
No, I don't straighten anymore and I don't use heat except for the occasional deffuser. I think I may have done a protien treatment in the past that didn't seem to do much, I may try them again though. I have a few light wispy pieces around my face which I can't figure out whether they are already broken pieces or just hair regrowing as this situation has been going on for a while. I also have shorter stubblier pieces that I am sure are new growth, I feel alot more of them in that one spot than on the rest of my head.
