Strait Top

I LOVE my curly hair absolutely to death and so do my friends. The only thing that worries me (aside from my fear that I'll wake up and one day it will be strait) is that it IS strait, on top.

I air-dry my hair after putting it up in a towel for a few minutes. I have tried the de-frizzer that goes on the end of a hairdryer and it hasn't worked. Though I was probably doing it wrong.

Point is I would really like 360 degree curls! More of a rounded shape and less of the famous pyramid. Any advice? I am a 3a with really fine hair.
I, sadly, also struggle with flat top. I'm currently experimenting with styling my hair while upside down and scrunching at the roots! We shall see if I achieve good results

<3 Our love is like the wind; I can't see it. But I can feel it. <3
Try the ice queen method; my hair is very flat on top and it really helps form nice clumpy curls!

If your hair is fine, it might benefit from a protein treatment. Good luck!!!

To OP: what is the length of your hair? For me, a straight top means that it's time to cut my layers because the canopy hair is getting weighed down at the top. Re-layering takes weight off the ends, which encourages the curl.

Just purchased KCCC and excited to test it out!
I comb gel+conditioner through my hair then hang my head upside down and comb through again, perhaps adding more gel if I think there's not enough, and then pull it all together in one solid bunch, squeeze out some of the gooey excess, but not all.. You want lots of moisture to remain- it should still be dripping somewhat. Then I scrunch upwards to the roots very gently, getting the curl to form right from the scalp.. When the hairs are lined up like this they stay lined up perpendicular to your scalp. I place a microfiber towel over my shoulders, then I straighten up and flip my head back up. When you look in the mirror you can see the curls start right next to the scalp instead of a few inches away.

Of course, no touching until the hair is dry or almost dry.

This method has worked well for me for years.
I had this issue today!!! Well I mean I get it every once in a while, but today especially for some reason..maybe because it's humid my hair decided not to cooperate.

Anyway, what everybody here has stated usually works for me. I do the icequeen method, but lately I haven't been using gel or anything, so I just scrunch in some leave in and then scrunch my hair upside down with a microfiber towel to absorb water and that usually gives me nice volume and some root curl!

However, it hasn't been working as well lately. I need a haircut (this was also already said, but oh well! haha)!! My top layers are definitely being weighed down straight.

I also have fine, 3a (i think...) hair. (:
curly hair and proud (:
