Lube the LOOB?!?

OK! So just as you said, the stringies went away! I didn't get the best results, but my hair wasn't great yesterday to start with. There is some friz, but I think that's more in my handling than in the LOOB itself, so I'm definitely going to keep working with this!!

Btw, I got third day hair! I had really good first day hair so that helped but my lube the LOOB technique is solid now!

Yeah, I'm really excited to see how it does after my cut tomorrow, and after I get to try it again when my hair isn't over conditioned!

Will KYP!!

So, I got my results for hair analysis and they recommended products that just don't work for me (granted I haven't tried everything they suggest) like protein rich products and light gels.

They did recommend LOOB! How funny is that?!?! It's still working for me!

Yeah... i don't really trust those hair analysis things. One hair on your head is not a good sample set. If I went in somewhere and they looked at my hair on my head, maybe took a sample from different areas on my head, then I'd trust it more.

But hey! At least they got ONE right!

Update: LOOB + mousse for second day hair!!

I do the same technique but use less LOOB and smooth over 1 puff of mousse over canopy and ends. I get the clumps from the LOOB because of the stickiness and shine/hold from the mousse. Perfection!

Mousse alone for second day hair is pretty good. Never would have thought of that. Thanks WavyNWild! I really like the LOOB for second day hair but it doesn't really add any shine so the marriage of these 2 products is promising. I hope it lasts!

I was trying to use up some of my products before adding something new to the mix, but I heard great things (especially for my hair type). My curl wizard even recommended it as a product for me.

Second day hair was mentioned, so I thought I'd chime in. CCCClite works awesome for me for second day hair. Moisture w\a little hold. I only use about 2 pea size amounts w\water & lightly scrunch=viola.

Loob is in my bucket of things to try though. I will be following this thread!
properties-3 a\b, very fine, medium density, normal porosity, normal elasticity
low poo- GTT, 50\50 or whatever I have at hand
RO- CJBCS, TNVC, Suave Coco
Stylers-FSG & BRHG
PT (twice a week)-CJRM, Ion Reconstructor, SSPT
Mousse + LOOB is hit or miss. LOOB remains pretty consistent for me. Not too crunchy and just enough stickiness to tone down frizz and poof.

@stefflynh did you try it yet? Curl wizard recommended LOOB for me as well. They were so right on that one!

Lubed the LOOB with avg and LI (SM conditioner). Was actually able to mix all three in my hand! No clumpies of LI, either!

Good results! Consistent, too!

I did add gel one time, but not the other 3 times.

Ok, I am a person who NEVER could get 2nd day hair, EVER. I tried everything. So I thought, "Well, I may as well try this too." I really didn't expect much, but since it wasn't expensive, I tried it. OH.MY. GOSH!!!! I actually got 5th day hair!!!!! And I could have gone one more if I'd wanted to!!!! This is a miracle! I'm so thrilled!! I'm so tired of washing my hair every day, and going out with it wet, especially in winter. Thanks so much Cuban curl-E, for telling us this! I've got my mornings back!

I recently cut about 3-4 inches off and am not that happy with my hair right now but thanks to the LOOB, my second day hair is even better than my first day hair!!

Glad you tried it and now have more morning time for you and not your hair!! 😉

I have tried this a couple of times and have gotten ok results. I'm not ready to give up yet. I think that I need to use a little more water and be a little more gentle. The times I have gotten it to work it hasn't lasted all day. If I can figure out that last piece this will work. If I can't I may try your method just substitute a stronger hold product. Wish me luck

I will say that it looks stringy and not good when still wet. Don't mess with it too much then. Resist! When mostly dry, I scrunch gently.

I also add the water/LI and LOOB similarly -- open palms, smooth over canopy and on ends running my hands down the hair. I'm not scrunching it in very much bc that creates more frizz.

Don't give up just yet!!

Mousse and my hair hate each other. For some reason it makes me frizz. I'm gonna try again tomorrow and use a bit more LOOB and water. If that doesn't hold all day then the next experiment is a dollop of strong hold gel emulsified with the LOOB. On a side note I am begining to feel like a mad scientist with all of these hair experiments I have been doing lately. I have the sudden urge to let out an evil laugh.

I actually got 4th day hair today with LOOB! I've perfected my technique and I just instinctively know how to apply now. Looking back, I realize how much trial and error was involved in using the LOOB but it's definitely working for me.

I do pineapple. Last night I actually did it damp with a little gel and it dried over night. Then I used just a little LOOB this morning and voila, until............... I took the little one NYC to see the Christmas Spectacular and walk down 5th Ave. Then the wind started blowing and there went my hair. It was a bit big by the time we got home but I still had great definition even if it poofed out a bit so I'll call it success. Now it's time to give my hair a style break and wear it in a braid for a few days with very little product to give it a chance to rest from my experiments. I'm def looking forward to doing this again next week and perfecting it cause it does seem to be working.

Wow I'm going to try this!! I bought loob last week but wasn't sure how to use it so it's been ignored. So far I have been getting decent 2nd and 3rd day hair by lightly combing hair then scrunching HETT gel into dry hair. Im always up for trying new techniques

One thing I forgot to mention, after I do a quick sweep over my hair, I also put some LOOB on the thumb and first two fingers of my right hand, and holding the top of each curl, I slide down the curl. Then I get a little more LOOB, add a drop or two of water, and go on to the next curl. I don't do all curls, just the ones that look like they're a little frizzy from being slept on. They look a little frizzy til they dry, (less than an hour) then they're like shiny, curly satin ribbons! And they stay awesome all week. I'm only wetting my hair once a week now, just when I wash it. That's it! I'm so thrilled with this! I spend five minutes on my hair in the morning now, compared to thirty, not counting hours of drying time.
