Thanks to this site I'm not getting my curls to look much better, they are a better shape and my hair is in much better condition but the curls just aren't lovely and smooth and shiney like the ones in all the advertising images on the left and like some of you all you lovely ladies gorgeous curls....how do I get rid of the frizz and get smooth soft curls? Is it product do you think?
TIA

I know what you mean! My curls are great but they are surrounded by a halo of frizz and my hair hates products.

I have problems with frizz. For me both the products and combing has made a difference for me. Especially during winter I get lots of frizz and I just have to comb my hair after I have put in my leave in (then I scrunch). My hair gets a little straighter but I get much less frizz which I prefer.

Maybe something like Curl Keeper would help you? It didn't do much for me but others really like it.

I looked at your photo album. You have a loose curl, so combing may pull out too much curl for your liking. You have very pretty hair, btw -- not boring at all.

Try it and see. If you don't like it, it's easy to fix as re-wetting your hair.

3A hair; coloring with henna/indigo since July 2009; normally follow the CG method. Still searching for my HG products!

I like to use Curls Euphoria Elixer. It smooths everything out and smells great. Also, a little goes a long way. I bought the sample jar months ago and it's still three quarters full.

i think you're hair is great! i don't see any frizz really.
Have you tried jojoba oil? I found this article under "Curl411" that has reminded me how much I really like it, so this is the 2nd thread I'm quoting it in . I suppose even in England you may be able to get it at health food stores.

Thank you so much for your help, I'm glad I'm not the only one with this issue. I'm thinking perhaps it might be a combination of miserable wet windy winter weather and a 3 mile walk to work. I'd just like me hair to look good when I arrive at work and stay that way for the whole day. Argh. So frustrating.

Thanks for all your tips. I'll have a look to see if I can get the Elixer here in the Uk and I can definitely get Jojoba oil.

Thanks lovely ladies.

Yes, that windy weather will do it. Sounds like you need MOISTURE back in your hair. To prevent more loss try to wear at least a silk scarf over your hair next time. To help replenish moisture, try leaving in all or most of your CO next time you wash or rinse your hair, and find a small empty spray bottle and fill it with distilled or filtered water and add 1 tsp. of your conditioner and 2-3 drops of the jojoba oil (or any other you may have on hand right now), shake well and take with you to spray your hair lightly a couple of times during the day to compensate for any moisture loss. For other recipes/variations go to the Recipe section.

Well I was wondering if I was a little over-conditioned as I keep getting pieces of my curls coming separate and straight during the day...I really like the idea of carrying the conditioning water though...might calm the frizz when I get to work. Thanks

Over-conditioning does cause curl "relaxation" and when too much oil is used strand separation and frizz can happen. But since you didn't mention any of that at first I thought it could be from dryness. However, jojoba oil is better tolerated by our hair because it's the one most like our own, it's worked to prevent frizz in a lot of people (and so has coconut oil). You can still try the spray bottle, even if it's just plain distilled water because this time of year most people's air is quite dry and that sucks moisture out of our hair.

The above remark was supposed to be a quote. I couldn't figure out how to do it. But anyway, this is pretty much 100% the reason I found this site! You are so not the only one with this problem! Thank you for starting this thread!!

Have had my hair short for almost a year now. No regrets! Still loving it!
I also add a few drops of jojoba mixed with my gel. I use to do that with serium before I started CO and I get the same results. That was great advice HalfWavyHalfCurly to get moisture back in your hair. I had a terrible bleach experience and my hair was totally fried. I have been misting and doing DTs and my hair is back to better then normal (I have no frizz now) Well except for the ends and the only thing thats going to help them is to get them cut off.

Now that I see reformed's question about proteins I think I should've asked first which COs and stylers you use and if you had clarified recently or not, so please get back to us with your answer.

At the moment I'm using Naked shampoo and conditioner and I do a deep treatment weekly. I'm then using Jessicul rockin ringlets and confident coils with a gel as I wasn't getting enough hold.

I love the way my hair looks first thing in the morning but before long my hair has got straight bits and gone frizzy

I really appreciate everyone's help. I have that daily conflict that when my hair looks great I want to go out and show it off but at the same time you don't want to leave the house and ruin in

I use Mop Top pommade which seems to help with the frizz. You just need a little bit to smooth it over the frizz. You can get if on naturalfrizz.com but I think they are out of it right now. You could email Tara and ask her when they will be getting it back in. And it's only about 7.99 if I remember correctly or you could get some McAdam Anti-frizz Shine & Define polishing gel(round tub - looks like a pommade to me) at Tesco's for about 3.49. I use both of these and they really help with frizz.
2C-3A??? Currently using Curly Q Milkshake, 3-minute Aussie Miracle, using non-sulphate shampoos, MopTop Pomade, Boots curl creme, always looking for that next miracle product for my hair! My PJ is never satisfied.
Oooh thank you, I'll try and get the moptop one I think, but the Tesco one sounds like such a bargain.

Your welcome. They may still have the Buy One Get One Free going on sale. I bought mine about two weeks ago and got both for about 3.49 so I would check them out. If your Tesco doesn't have it, let me know and I can post you my extra one since one will last me a LONG time.

littlemisscurly, I made a mistake. The cost of that Mop Top pommade was only about 3.99. I remembered that later after I answered you earlier but they have been out of it for awhile.
