Default BRHG users - how do you make it less crunchy ?

I'm thinking of digging this out of my product graveyard. I remember it working ok but left my hair with crunchy spots that didn't seem to scrunch out . Any advice?
Thanks!

Best combo so far:
Shea moisture leave-in and BRHG

Using a leave-in conditioner underneath helps lessen the crunch.

A lot of people use it with a leave-in underneath to help with the crunchiness.

Yes, a leave-in condish - when i used to use it, I'd also mix it w/ the Biosilk silk therapy serum.

I actually mixed my leave-in in my hand WITH the gel before I put it in my hair. Helped lots with the crunch. More than just using it on top of a leave in.
