Pixie: To cut or not?

Hi everyone,

I am wondering if a pixie cut will work for my overall bone structure. I want to chop my locks and have wanted to do it for the last few months. I am going into the fire academy in a few months and need something easy, simple to style. I uploaded two pics: one of my curly hair and one without my hair showing so you can see my bone structure. I'd love to hear all of your opinions.

Your curls are really pretty!!

But I understand why you're looking for something easy. Do you know of a good stylist who truly knows about curly hair? They might be able to suggest what kind of short haircut would work well with not only your bone structure, but also your curl pattern. I'd also wonder if cutting it short would really cut off the curls or if your hair would still curl at that length. That may be something to thing about when deciding how short you want to go and what hairstyle to go with. It's something I see with my son's hair. When his hair is shorter (not at all a buzz cut or anything), there is basically NO curl evident to his hair, but when it grows out to a certain length, it curls all over the place.

Thanks Devushka! I am currently looking for a stylist in Tucson. I have had the same thoughts about whether the curls will straighten out as well, if you decide to chop them that short....I find it frustrating because when I was younger, I had dead straight hair and then hit puberty! Haha

I keep hearing how that happens with some people -- They suddenly go curly once puberty kicks in. I guess that would be frustrating. I, on the other hand, have been curly my whole life, but it's only recently that I've made peace with my hair.

Be sure to click on the 'Salon Finder' link at the top of the page and also the 'Salon/Stylist Chatter' forum here on nc.com. I found a really good, experienced curly hair stylist that way myself. Otherwise, I would have been taking chances yet again with a straight hair stylist trying to navigate my curly hair as if it were straight.

Don't know if you already got your hair cut, but I saw this pic of actress, Audrey Tautou, on another forum here on nc.com, and it reminded me of your post. I think your face shape is sort of like hers (Don't ya think?) It's a really cute cut if you're thinking of going this short.

Anyway, thought I'd share the pic. Good luck with the cut!

The Audrey Tatou pixi cut is soooooo adorable!!!!!!!!! Super stylish too. I was one of those people who didn't know she had wavy hair until I was almost 21.

I know; it really is a really cute cut! I'm trying to grow my hair longer, but if I were ever thinking of going short again -- AND if my hair didn't have such a tight curl -- I'd *definitely* think about getting this cut!
