I keep hearing how that happens with some people -- They suddenly go curly once puberty kicks in. I guess that would be frustrating. I, on the other hand, have been curly my whole life, but it's only recently that I've made peace with my hair.
Be sure to click on the 'Salon Finder' link at the top of the page and also the 'Salon/Stylist Chatter' forum here on nc.com. I found a really good, experienced curly hair stylist that way myself. Otherwise, I would have been taking chances yet again with a straight hair stylist trying to navigate my curly hair as if it were straight.
