Perhaps you need a different haircut. A good haircut lets your hair fall into place more or less on its own and styling products are required to define and control frizz. I have cut my own hair since before I was in college - but definitely in college because of $. I started looking at what parts of my hair bugged me and what shape I wanted to achieve and then I started snipping. Small bits at a time. But some of my best hair changes have been big mistakes like cutting too much off because it led me to a whole new style that I did not think would work.
So start with a good haircut because that is the absolute foundation of a hairstyle. Maybe even try something you wouldn't otherwise dare. You never know. Just be sure you trust the person doing the cutting. Products cannot give you what a well thought-out haircut can.

So sorry to read that you hate your hair! Your hair in you avatar pic looks really pretty!

Not knowing what you've tried in the past, I don't know what to suggest you try now -- Perhaps a new curly cut from a good, experienced, curly hair stylist? Maybe going truly 'natural' with using homemade, botanical-based products instead of using commercial products? A hair analysis to see if this whole time you've been assuming your hair properties were one thing and caring for them based on that incorrect assumption but in reality your hair properties are someting else? Just throwing out ideas. HTH.

Oh I have been there! I'm mod-cg, and have found less is more with products (at least as far as the number of products is concerned.).

I think knowing more of your hair properties, etc would help in giving suggestions. And if you are cg, mod cg, etc. Knowing what you have tried and how it effected your hair would help, but I understand not wanting to type it all us!

You certainly have my sympathies. Ive been through that, and still have those days!

I can definitely relate!!! I've been really frustrated with my hair for ages especially since I cut it shorter. I'm trying to use less products which I think is helping a tiny bit. I also need a trim but I'm tyring to save up for that. I totally understand being on a budget and not able to get new products all the time.

As for new products - I too have no money for trying lots of products. You can scour the travel size aisle, plus a lot of companies you can request a sample on their website! Even if they dont have an area for it, you can still contact them and ask, and often it works.

If you get a haircut, ask your stylist to try out some new things. Make specific requests if you have them. Stylists sometimes have samples to give out, and some of the pro lines will send you samples if you request them.

hippiechic81 and Devushka like this.
