layering cut rave
Just had 2 rave about my cut :
I get a trim every few months at my friends salon that i have gone to for over 10 yrs , she cuts dry or wet hair and straight to curly hair , so for a few months i had all one length curly hair but my hair was not that curly. just sorta went kinda blah by the end of the day so i staightened it a few times in the week.. . i thought mabye a shine treatment with color sometimes helps my curls for some strange reason. , so i decided on a shine treatment with color ( had not had 1 in a while ) and decided on last minute of a lil layering done so when i wear my hair straight sometimes i can flip out my ends a lil which gives my hair more fullness and such
i decided to wear it curly last night and rewashed my hair
Omg why did i even go with all one length , the layering made my curls pop even more and where i only get about 2-3 inches of straight on my canopy , it was curly/wavy to my roots ..and when i slepted on it the curl didnt get messed up , i barely had to spritz water on it to revive it like i use too. , i think now my hair does well with layering then all one length , i dont mind all one length but thats if im gonna be straightening it alot , my curly hair just doesnt hold well with that , im hoping my curls stay this curly with the layering! sorry the long rave! ( sorry no pics , i havent quiet mastered pics on here yet )

I'm happy for you! It's just great when you get a good cut.

Yay, tinicurlyd!!! I'd been growing out my layers until a month or so ago. When juvjoy (Kim) cut her layers, she inspired me to cut mine too, & I am SOO glad that I did!!
The longer my hair got, it seem like the flatter it was getting, & I just didn't like it (on me)... Since I cut the layers (did it myself, just like Kim), I've been SOO happy with my hair. It's much fuller, yet I still have the length, & it really helped the curls to spring back up

Hey D! I'm glad you got another great cut and discovered the joys of layering! I've been growing my hair out and haven't gone back to her yet.

I'm just wondering HOW layered are you girls going? I got layers cut in and I told the girl "long layers", but I don't think I like it. My under layer just curls up even more, looking more short in the back than it was before. My sides and canopy are less curly, so my sides hang lower. It's also not as curly/bouncy as I had imagined. My hair is BSL in the back (shoulder length when dry) and the shortest layers are probably about shoulder length or a little longer. Should I layer more? I still have a vague triangle shape. What do you guys think?
(Sorry to guano!!)

hm hard to say but i think i have long layers, i remember way back i wanted layers done and some lady that cut my hair at the time made too many layering but it was a sloppy job , when i straightened my hair i had choppy like layers all over , the back was worse.. these layers are more neater lol..not choppy either. but not alot..and the back is much better..too short of layers dont work for my hair , and if i ever wanna go all one length it takes about two haircuts a month apart to get my hair even instead of like five haircuts.. my curls fall better with these layers.

Curlyjenn, my shortest layer (except for my bangs), when pulled STRAIGHT, hits right below my jawline, then it's layered from there down to the end of my almost BSL hair. It just gives me some wonderful fullness that I need because my face is long & relatively thin. When I cut my layers, I first trim them across, but then I cut INTO the layers - I think this really helps the curls form around each other.

kjwavy, I wish I could see more of your hair! I was imagining my layers shorter like what you're describing, though my hair is curlier than yours.

I'm glad you're enjoying your layers! I'm afraid not to have layers. I keep thinking I'll go one layers but I've had layers for so long
