Default Second Day Hair-HELP!

My hair is very very thick, and it knots up really bad. Every morning I have a huge knot in the back of my head and I have to spray a lot of leave in conditioner and try to comb it out with a wide tooth comb to get it out, then it looks like my curls back there are smoothed out. Can anyone help me decide on better products I should be using? I'm thinking I need more moisture and a heavier conditioner?

Is the texture of your hair coarse (i.e. individual strands of hair are thick)? If that's the case, it might be that you're using products with protein in it and your hair doesn't tolerate protein so it's drying out and tangling. It's a tendency with coarse hair. [I'm just offering that as something to consider. My hair likes protein just fine, so I schedule in regular protein treatments.]

Other than that, it does sound like you need a deep conditioning treatment. Tangling isn't an issue for me when my hair is well-conditioned and moisturized.

Tangled hair usually means dry hair, so you either need a better conditioner/leave-in conditioner and/or do a good deep conditioning treatment. I used to have this problem too until I found a good conditioner and started doing deep treatments. It should detangle in no time!

Do you sleep with a satin bonnet on? Or on a silk pillow? That may help reduce the dryness and the tanglyness that happens over night.
