It is like my hair eats or drinks this stuff and I am not coarse nor porous. It is certainly cheap so no worries about cost, I am just surprised at how much I have to use. Wonder if it is because of my CJ leave-ins. Today I used it over CJ Deep Fix (just a pea sized amount guarantees big soft waves) and KCCC. My hair is not crunchy and I have lots of volume.
My hair is a bit past shoulder length. I have both the Krystal and the Argan Oil. The Argan does not give me as much hold as the Krystal.
How much do you use?

I have only the Krystal and don't use it real often, but when I do, it's usually over CJCCC, either regular or lite. Takes very little for me - three fingers lightly dipped. Any more and I wouldn't be able to scrunch it out. Never tried it over KCCC, but I'd think that would be even harder, on me - kind of like BRHG over KCCC. That gives me a true plastic helmet, LOL

I tend to use a lot of Ecostyler Argan also. I like it to make my hair really gloppy and clumpy. Nonetheless I have had my 32 oz tub for a few months and I've barely made a dent in it!

We do not have ecostyler at our Sally's here, but before my cut I was using TONS of gel to get the right hold, i was mixing and layering and dooin all sorts of things to find the right balance: Hold, Shine, Bounce, No producty feeling and Clumps! but eventually I found I could use 1.4 as much as I thoguht I needed and add a lil more in certain places if I needed it rather than globbing it all on at beginning. Helped me use less and realize I was over doing it before!

It is not all gels, just this one in particular that my hair seems to absorb. I wondered if others applied and felt that it sank in unlike other gels.

I think my hair reacted the same way. I haven't tried Ecostyler in a long time because I felt it built up on my hair and made my scalp itchy.

the Alba Strong Hold gel is the same way for me, I feel like my hair just instantly absorbs it!
