Anyone heard of CWC Washing method?
I belong to other forums, and on one of them I learned of a hair washing method that is good for people with oily scalps but dry hair (like me). It's called the Condition-Wash-Condition method. You start by completely wetting your hair and applying conditioner from your ears to your ends. You then use a small amount of shampoo and cleanse your scalp and only your scalp, then rinse. Then you apply conditioner in your usual, top to bottom, root to tip (or whatever) way, then rinse again.
I tried it this morning, and it seems to have worked pretty well. My scalp feels cleaner than it does when I co-wash, and my hair felt almost as slippery as it does when I co-wash.
Anyway, just thought you gals and guys would like to know.

CG since June 2011 and loving it so far.
Product Junkie-love anything CJ. Used to love KT and KCCC, but lately doing nothing for my hair but flattening it.
Am experimenting with products to see what works for me. Seems like I get different results every day even if I use the same products!

Thank you for sharing! We'll have to do some digging on this method.

Ever heard the saying, "There is nothing new under the sun"? The CWC (condition wash condition) Method is not new. I can't say for certain how old it is or where it originated, but I first used it in the early 1970s (in another millenium!!!). I think I got the idea from a fashion magazine at the time. I would first wet my hair. Then I used a deep conditioner with my hair covered for about 30 minutes. Then I would put diluted shampoo on my scalp only. But I worked the shampoo through my hair as well, followed by a thorough rinsing. I then followed with a second conditioner. After, again, rinsing my hair, I would have a final rinse with apple cider vingear and cool water. My hair was in fabulous condition!! I highly recommend this process. You just have to find the right conditioner and shampoo for your hair type.

I use it! About half the time when I low poo with coco-betaine, or clarify. Sometimes I do it as a pre-poo, and put conditioner (and/or some oil) on my dry hair (sometimes I mix the condish with a little water first, or spritz my ends lightly), leave it for 5-10 mins, then shower and poo it out.
Regardless of method, I almost always poo just my scalp, then just rinse the through the rest of my hair. I only ever poo all my hair if I really need to clarify for some reason (build-up, bad ingredient that doesn't agree with my hair, etc.)

i don't know where or when it originated, but in the first curly girl book lorraine talks about coating your hair with conditioner, shampooing your scalp, then rinsing all, then adding conditioner. same idea.
i never used it, but i could see where it would be helpful.

So it's like a pre poo only you apply the conditioner right there when you're already in the shower? Or do you wait at least three to five minutes for it to penetrate your hair enough to act as a shield?

^Yeah I think you should definitely wait a bit if you're going to try this method. The more the conditioner can protect your hair, the better.
My hair and scalp are already dry enough so I'm not gonna try this, but it sounds smart for people who get greasy hair/scalp easily.

You can wait or not - just depends on preference. Doing it as a pre-poo can get more moisture into your hair, IMO, where doing it just before shampooing just helps with stripping.
