Curls Whipped Cream vs. Curl Junkie Cocoa Curl Creme
Which do you think is better for my 3B (thick, lots of it!) hair? I have liked the Whipped Cream so far - I have a sample of the Curl Junkie, but am afraid to experiment during the week! I prefer a cream that defines, defrizzes & I do NOT mind my hair weighed down; in fact, I kind of prefer it to keep the volume down. As I said, I'm liking the Whipped Cream, but do need a gel over it. Just wondering if anyone has any input on the Curl Junkie Cocoa (or Guava) Cream vs. the Whipped Cream - or even the Souffle which I have also tried.
Thanks so much....

I've tried all of the products you mentioned in your post. I prefer the Curl Junkie products hands down, but I'm a 3A, fine, and my hair gets weighed down easily. I found the Whipped Cream and the Souffle were just too heavy for my hair, but it sounds like they might work better for what you're looking for. Of the Curl Junkie creams, I liked the Guava Cream the best (the one without the protein). I'm currently using the Banana leave in for fine hair over B & A gel and am really liking the results.
Hope that helps

Thank you for the reply. I might try the CJ this weekend, but was curious as to which has more weight to it.

The Curls has waaaaay more weight to it than the CJ Coffee Coco creme. And I'm only talking Souffle; the Whipped Cream is heavier still. I like the CJ, but it is much thinner, lighter, & doesn't always give me enough weight & the coffee smell cannot compare to the yummy Curls fragance.

Thanks, I can see what you are saying after trying the CJ yesterday. Curls definitely has more weight.

Curlsofny, you can use Curls Whipped Cream by itself if you are okay with having light-to-medium hold. If you need to add more hold to your hair you can apply gel over it. Curls sells a gel called Goddess Glaze that you can use it with or if you have a favorite gel, you can always use that too. I am a 3B with naturally dry, medium-to-coarse curls and I never use gel with Curls Whipped Cream. I like using Curls Whipped Cream when my hair needs heavy moisturization, like during the Winter time.
And on Curls website it does show that Curls Goddess Glaze is out of stock and won't be back in stock until 1/27.

Hi, thanks for the reply. I tried the Goddess Glaze, but for some reason, it did not do well on my hair. Not sure if that is because I wasn't using it with their styling creams underneath?? I do like the Whipped Cream so far - I have the Souffle as well, but I think the Whipped Cream might be better.

Hi Rose's Ringlets - yeah, I know it sounds a little unorthodox, but that's what I've been doing. I tried it based on the Jessicurl method of raking RR into soaking wet curls, scrunching with a microfiber towel, and then scrunching in CCSS (per the videos on her website, during which she gets amazing curls). Sadly, I didn't have consistent results with RR and CCSS, so I thought I'd tried the technique with different products. B & A gel has the same consistency as RR, and the CJ leave in works for me applied after the gel with a scrunching motion...it helps to reclump my curls after raking the gel in.
