Help! Losing curl?

We recently moved from Tennessee where we had well water that was soft to Northern Indiana where we have hard water and a water softner that uses salt. I'm not on any medications, nothing else has changed. I have tried different shampoos, clarifying shampoos, and shampoo for hard water. Nothing is helping get the curl back. It wants to curl a little at the scalp for maybe 3-4 inches, but not like it used to, and it's straight at the ends. I want my curl back. I have tried getting it cut too. I used to be able to wash it with any shampoo and use ringlet cream and diffuse and go. Now nothing helps. It just looks horrible unless I straigten it with a flat iron.
I feel your pain! I'm in Indiana, too!

Try some ACV rinses - that helps with the mineral build-up. You'll need extra moisture, not necessarily extra clarifying.

You can get a filter for your showerhead - a friend of mine swears by hers!

You may find you need more protein too, so maybe do a weekly (or maybe bi-weekly) PT and see if you get improvement that way.

You might also try some gel over the ringlet cream to see if the extra hold helps some, too.

HTH! I do understand your frustration! Let me know if you find things that work - I'll try them, too!!
