I think you need to stop thinking "I can't do that" or "I am not supposed to do that" and start experimenting on what works for you. So if you want to put your hair up, try coating some conditioner on there and lightly running a comb through to gather your hair. That may work for you!

I wet & style every day 2nd day hair just isn't nice on me or it consists of pulling the bangs off my face and clipping it up in some way after spritzing and adding a bit of gel. You may try spritzing adding gel & plopping but get it really wet while avoiding your scalp since the water dries you out.

I will try to be a bit more lax, just want my curls to be healthy. Last night, I was simple and really got good results. I just did a water rinse, added a rinse out, it was I forget. Then raked through a very little of SM coconut something gel, just a tad, and then raked in HETT, combed through, plopped for a sec, and scrunched in more HETT> great stuff going on. Here are my product recs from teh curl wizard, now they confuse me more because the stuff they list, like the curl creams have oils, so does that mean I can handle stuff like that??

But the ingredients list they gave were wrong, on some of them. And some of these have glycerin high in the list. And I live in low dews, so I dno't know if I just wasted ten bucks on this list, but many liked how this service helped them. But now to throw in something more, I would like to find a natural gel. I might do a new post and see what "natural gels" wavies are using because I want somethign that doesn't make me cringe to sleep with it in my hair. Too bad that most of the natural stuff, is heavier for tight curls.

I think with the Curl Wizard, they give you some suggestions, but they may not take into account your climate. They do mass analysis, so giving suggestions based solely on climate would be difficult. Especially because some people in your climate might be able to use glycerin. I can use it sparingly. And, after all...they're only suggestions.

I'm super happy that you had good results last night, though! See, you're starting to figure your hair out!

This area is under construction as my hair type changed and nothing works well for me. I shampoo, I condition and pretty much have done nothing but chuck my hair in a messy bun for the past oh...year? Yeah, I'm that lazy.

No...going no-poo or CG does not work for me. It leaves me overconditioned and oily in a second no matter what I use, so that's not what's not working.
I agree with SegB as well! I tried a few things on the list that my hair absolutely hated! Also tried some that my hair really liked.

I still do PTs+DTs even though the hair analysis said they weren't necessary. I just don't do them very often.

Just a question to follow up on this stuff. The honey child stuff worked ok , really the first day was nice hair. BUT having all that butters is NOT cool, it doesn't come out of your hair and I had major frizz the 2nd day. So I have these samples that I will not use again. ANYWAYs. . . I am having luck not using leave ins, but I have a question about this. I do like to comb my products through on WET hair, but having no conditioner in that hair, only gel, is that going to set me up for major hair breakage or damage to my hair combing it while wet and no conditioner to help with slip?? That's my big fear now!!! Hoping for some opinions. I know I shouldn't comb daily, but it's the best way I feel I get that gel evenly through my hair and for the clumps to find their place!!

I'm here, I'm just super, duper busy with work right now. I'm responding to your message that you sent me slowly when I have a few free minutes during work.

As long as you're using a wide-tooth comb, I don't imagine that combing in product would cause breakage. If you feel like you need a leave-in, go ahead and give it a try. You know your hair better than I do.

The way you're talking...I think oils and butters might be your downfall. Maybe trying conditioners and leave-in's that do not have oils or have them wayyyyy down on the ingredient list might be your magic potion.

Especially because you said you used Biolage Conditioning Balm and your hair got better. It doesn't have oils that I know of, but a great source of moisture.

I hope your workload calms down soon!! I know, life is full of these stressful times and yoga just doesn't cut it. Thanks for taking your time to both of you. Yes I'm avoiding oils/butters. I've learned that!! Today I tried less scrunching and that helped A BIT for frizz in the curls. I can try leaving a little conditioner in, but how do you know when you've left in a bit but not too much. How do you monitor that?? That seems hard to do!! I"m thinking I need to try a firmer, yet NATURAL gel, because I think that frizz I see in my curls (it's not in there until after i Put in product) might be to the gel being not strong enough and my clumps separating a bit. I also get some ends that don't curl and they just stick out completely, like you think it's a shed hair but it's not. Maybe that spiral solutions firm gel is what I need. I tried aubrey B5 but no difference. Most people find KCCC to be firm enough, but that's what I used today, so who knows. Thanks so much for being there, I know life is busy, no pressure. Very appreciative.

since you're a wavy I wouldn't think that KCCC would be a hard hold gel. Many wavies still need something on top of it!

I know that fact (sigh) I just wish there were a firm NATURAL gel, so I wouldn't have to worry if I go three days with just a water rinse and want to restyle with more gel, because a natural would rinse out whereas synthetics, don't think so. I tried the Aubrey B5 and it didn't give me much more hardness. I've seen the suncoat styling gel, but it's hard to get, only online and I've spent too much right now. Also, do you all know of any DT that don't have oil or protein?? I've got the Jessicurl but I think with those oils/butters, taht's not for me either. Just wondering! Would you consider flax seed gel a harder holding gel???

It's different for everyone, you are going to just have to experiment...It should feel a little sea-weedy...Sometimes I completely rinse out everything, then take a pea size of my rinse out condish and rake that through, then go back under the shower for 10 seconds or so, and that's my leave in.

As for the frizz...Is there a reason you don't want to low poo/co-wash/cleanse daily? I know if I want to wear my hair down and curly, I HAVE to go through my whole cleanse/style routine to get good hair. If I water rinsed I would have producty frizz all over my head (even with all natural products). For second day hair (if I do that) it's usually up. Maybe 1 in 5 times I can wear it down for the second day, but not often. And if I do, I just smooth some water on it to reactivate the product.

The reason I didn't want to lowpoo daily or water wash, is because I have been having a sore scalp, like my hairs are just super sensitive, and someone suggested to me (Sunshine) that it could be the water, wetting daily that is drying out my scalp. But like you, I don't get 2nd day hair, so I at least water rinse it. which is why I like products that can rinse out easily. I would love to be able to lowpoo daily so that I could then restyle with any type of gel and not worry about gel clogging my pores or such, but like I said, since I've been washing off natural oils less often, my scalp has been a bit better. Not competely healed, but better. So that is why, for me. So yea, I have to restyle, I don't get 2nd day hair, but I need a way to be able to get it with just a water rinse, and then you said you can reactivate product, but I'm assuming you're not wetting like me in the shower, you're just spritzing, because I'm pretty sure that upon doing a water rinse, yesterday's gel is not going to reactivate!! Anyways. . . I get this "inthe curl frizz" regardless of whether I cleanse or not. I just always get it. today I tried no scrunching, and had a little bit less of frizz, but now that it's dry, I have less curl obviously cuz of no scrunching, and still the same frizz within the curls, no canopy stuff so that's good. I guess, I just might have to accept the fact I need a heavier gel than KCCC or maybe trying using more. I didn't get much crunch!

Wait. If you want to Lo-poo you're hair every day, then I say knock yourself out. Especially if you feel like it would widen your product options. But I don't see why any water soluble product, natural or synthetic wouldn't rinse out the same way (sorry to the other posters, this kinda comes from a PM between the two of us). The theory is the same. They're all water soluble, so for the most part, they should all rinse out relatively the same.

Now, if you want to wash your hair and start from scratch everyday, I say go for it. Just use a gentle Lo-poo, don't scrub your poor scalp so hard that it gets sore, and when you use your conditioner, maybe massage it into your scalp. It can act like a moisturizer, just like you would use for your face so you don't get that tight dry feeling from your scalp not having any moisture.
