Default Curls make you happy or when you're happy do you go curly?

Warning: Super, soppy trip down memory lane.

DH and I are getting ready to move. I've been packing this afternoon and came across an old box of photos. Maybe it's just a girl thing, but forget the packing. I'm going through old photos! Of course half the photos I have curly hair and half the photos I have straight hair. I noticed a couple of interesting things.

All the happiest times in my life have been curly. Seriously, I have no idea if there's any sort of psychological connection, but it's true. I spent a semester in Europe during college. Hands down one of the best things I ever did for myself, both education-wise and life-wise. Curly in every photo. Flash forward 5-6 years and I was going through a really tough breakup - straight, straight, straight!

So the question is which comes first curls or happiness? I think I'll hedge my bets and try to go full blown curly more often.

I've never straightened to know if I'd be a happier person with straight hair or if straight hair would affect my Karma, but I kind of feel about my curls the way Julia Roberts felt about pink in STEEL MAGNOLIAS. She says, "Pink is my signature color," and, well, my curls are my signature. I would feel naked without them. I would at least not feel like myself, which I'm assuming wouldn't make me very happy, so, I suppose my answer is that curls make me happy because they are who I am.

Until about 6 months ago, I always wore my hair straight. I haven't had it curly for long enough to say if I'm happier or not, but I have definitely become more accepting of myself in general, which I think helps with happiness.

During sad times seems like we want a change so we color our hair, cut it , straighten it.
I'm generally the same me no matter what my hair looks like BUT a particularly good looking hair day sure brightens the whole day

When I see a ringlet in my hair, it makes me smile. Does that count?

Funny you mention this... Well I have been straightening my hair for like 10 years... I started doing my curly thing (daily) since summer 2006. I'd wear it curly like every blue moon. Yesterday, I was looking at the photos when I got married (Aug 2005)... All of them, curly! That was definitely a great day!.
