Cool What Can I Do With My Hair?

I'm a black male, and I'm trying to get a curly afro because I hate cutting my hair. How should I approach it? I've been loking through products on Amazon and advice on different websites and I'm still confused. I think I'll buy Coconut Oil and Shea Butter Leave In Conditioner, but I have no idea what to do about moisturizers, washing my hair, and other things. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

My hair type is type 4 (not sure if it's 4a or 4b), but I do know it gets really tightly coiled if I keep it dry. I mean like really coily. You can see my scalp .__.

Thanks very much!

The main thing is moisture. Most of us tight curlies spritz with water, then use a moisturizing creamy product and seal with an oil. Have you visited Curly Nikki's site? There's more advice for our hair type over there.
