long time curly hair suddenly not curling!

I'm a first time poster so please excuse any gaffes and my limited profile. I have worn my hair curly since I was a teenager (I am now 33) but recently my hair just won't seem to curl. I have (mostly) 3b hair and it curls pretty tightly even when well past my shoulders. But for the first time ever it just will not hold a curl. Thinking it was too long I got it cut on Monday to above my shoulders (again it normally curls well even when well past my shoulders). It is curling more than before the cut, but I would say I have 3a with a lot of 2 hair now. I definitely do not have my usually thick, tight curls--more like a combination of waves and thin curls. I have not changed hair products (I will obviously do so but I have not done so yet, so that does not explain the difference). I have never had this happen to my hair before and I am truly at a loss. I would really appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thanks.

Perhaps it's hormonal? Because people's hair type/texture tends to change throughout their lifetime, and if you're not doing anything different with your hair routine it sounds like that might be the only reason why your hair isn't as curly as normal. All you can really do is accept that your hair isn't as curly anymore and start a different hair routine for your new hair type.

Same problem here. I used to be a 3b but now I'm closer to 2c. It got less curly with each child so I figure it's hormonal. It's been 6 years of transitioning and I'm still not seeing my hair get back to its original state. I just deal with it by experimenting with new routines like Britney suggested. I'm also hanging out in the "2s" forum alot more now.
